I hammered the tabs flat in the spare tire area and stuffed a 295/70/17 in there. Measures out to a 33.23"

Literally barely fit, had to squeeze it between the exhaust hangar and the shackle hangar on the driver side. Also very little room to spare near the front diff. Yall shouldnt have any issues stuffing a 285 down there if you hammer those tabs flat

Mine was going to barely end up like that but I was concerned about the axle wedging the tire

Mine had some room to wiggle near the hitch so if the axle did get into a scuffle wiht it, i figured it'd just get pushed back. I can definitely see that as a cause for concern though

I think your used up treads help too. I just got these tires a little over a year ago and still got some meat on them. Been looking at this since it wraps over the bed in way where all the stress isn’t put on the bed rails: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/spare-tire-mount.578590/

I’ve also been looking at a folding bed cover and leaving the spare in the bed. I haven’t made up my damn mind yet lol

Very good point, i didnt think about that. These have about 20k miles on them so they're definitely shorter than when new.

That's a nice looking tire mount. I was considering one of those, but id want to put it in the middle of the front of the bed, and i have a feeling the blind spot would be a pain in the rear. Definitely a better option than the side rail mounted carriers like you said, id be worried about the bedsides tearing

You’re definitely right about the blind spot lol. I had the spare ratchet strapped against that same area a few times and I could probably live with it. The 5ft bed becomes like a 3.5ft though since it protrudes away some. I don’t prefer swing out bumpers or cab racks. So it’s just been sitting in my shed and brought out whenever I bring it in for a 5 tire rotation. Not too concerned about getting flats since it’s gotdamn E-rated lol

agreed e-rated are pretty cool when it comes to flats. I typically notice a tire is low, and just keep driving on it until it starts leaking much faster. Past few times ive noticed a low tire, i have filled it back up and then it doesnt get low again. Idk what cooper puts in their tires, but it seems to work pretty well lol. Id do the same if i had the short bed, any space taken up in that and it's basically useless

I actually don't own a Baja/Pro. I bought a 2010 DCLB with some massive wheels/tires that need to go and after searching my options I've decided to buy these wheels.

Thank you, those pics are very helpful! Since I'll be running a 31.6" tire I should have an additional 0.8" compared to your pics

Meant to ask, how were the e-brake cables doing under such droop?

No issues at all, but I do need to do some real world testing once the shocks come in to be sure! The abs line bracket at the top of the diff definitely needs to be extended a bit, and the brake lines need a minimum of +4”.

Still on standard length shocks, waiting for the new ones to be built :annoyed: Lets just say the upper studs on my shocks got worked this weekend lol, I though they were going to rip out of the frame.
