The fuss is the fact that it sometimes loses 7-8mph, and then overshoots by 3-4mph..... The worst I have experienced..... My Rostra aftermarket, on my chevy 1-ton works waaay, better. Did I mention, I don't have to reach under my steering wheel for that either?

Hmm, mine doesn't seem to do that. Every vehicle's cruise control is going to loose mph on a slight grade, that's expected. Mine looses 2-3 but never overshoots.

    Yes.

Although it would be nice to have that fancy radar controlled cruise control.

On an overpass today, 70mph to 66 to 74 back to 68 then to 70, no load. I was bucking a headwind, and I don't mind it losing a few mph, I don't even care if it jumps to 3rd, but overshooting could get me a ticket!
Other times, while towing, I found it would keep'er pinned well after recovering lost speed. I guess my issue is mostly the overshoot. I also like to drop a gear or 2 when pulling a grade, but when dropped to 3rd, cruise shuts off, so on a long grade I either let it hunt gears and overshoot, or pop it in 3rd (cruise shuts off), and watch my speed. I guess my previous 5 trucks spoiled me:eek:

Or I could follow what the manuals says; No cruise while towing, or when not on level ground:rolleyes:.
And, no towing above 45 mph:rolleyes::rolleyes:.
Seriously, whoever wrote that needs to give their head a shake!

I do not like that the cruise indication lights up on the dash even when you are not in cruise mode, you have just merely activated the ability to use the cruise feature.

Confusing in my option, could be scary for someone unfamiliar with the vehicle too. EX: You are actually in cruise mod, you tap the brake to turn it off, yet the cruise light is still on.

I only like it for flat ground. On hill/ mountains it sucks balls and won't maintain your speed.

Like others have said, it works great with a manual. I've got it in my TSX and I had it in a Subaru Forester before that (all manual).
It would most certainly be a deal breaker for me if a vehicle didn't have it. But my wife doesn't use it much. I use it constantly, but I also actively use it. As soon as I hit the speed limit in slow areas I kick it in, so that I don't find myself speeding. I use it to get through a playground or school zone for the same reason. And of course I use it on the highway, but living in the mountains I will still shift gears and actively use the CC. It's like a little accelerator pedal at my fingertips that keeps me from getting speeding fines.

Have to agree will about all of you. Especially the comments about cruise with a manual. Ive also notice the drastic speed flux with the Tacoma, does suck! But I own a Suby Outback, and with a manual transmission, I love the cruise on that thing. But all in all, rather have it then not have it.

Only time I used it, it felt like it was going to keep accelerating before it finally settled down to cruising speed. I left on for the remainder of that trip to see if I'd get used to but I didn't like it and I have not used again.

I love it in my manual. No "hunting" issues like many of the people with auto's complain about. Where it constantly changes gears down and up to maintain speed. I know some of the earlier autos downshifted violently, shot up in speed, slowed back down, and then repeated up a hill. As long as I was doing 65+ on the highway even with 285's I didn't need to downshift to maintain speed on any hill. I use it now on the work commute since there's a section of road where it's easy to do 70 (it's a 55 zone), and have 2 tickets from that section. I have 265's now so the speedometer is still a bit off, so I set cruise between 55 and 60 just to avoid more tickets. F'n NY makes you pay a $300 "driver responsibility fee" in addition to fine/court fee of the tickets if you get 2 or more within 6 months. So $300, plus $185 or so per ticket, plus insurance premium increase for 3 years means I use the cruise more! Especially since the last guy nailed me just as I crested the top of a long hill you need speed to get up without downshifting 2 gears. And that's the only hill cruise won't hold on. Between trying to keep it at 55 due to the cops hiding just over the top, and the steepness of it I manually control for that hill and down shift. Losing momentum and burning more gas at higher RPMs is better than the raping I get if there's a cop around.

The problem with mine is it won't downshift.

I like cruise, it helps alot on trips and when you are multi tasking going down the road (which is not the safe thing to do I know, but work never stops). I have not had ti for at least three years because the Jeep I had did not have it equipped. I love the feature and would like to see it on all the vehicles I own in the future (minus the rock buggy I am going to build, that will not have cruise) JOE>
