Lookin for an info on swing out rear bumper, I’ve searched only one I like is the aluminess, I’m mainly lookin for a dual swinger, an want to run their fuel locker an galley box, not to amped on the price , but not too much more expensive than others

so only brands I know bout

    aluminess
    Cbi
    Relentless
    4x innovations

An a pic of what I’m thinkin

I want to be able to care extra fuel, also like idea of x2 2gal roto pax on inside (need to be able to carry water/meth), also like extra storage, not interested in swing with spare, want to keep spare in stock location

    Stock
    Go custom.

Find a fabricator; use of this forum helps a lot.

I can't possibly see why there would be a fitment issue with any rear bumper for any 1st gen. Nothing changed back there, except maybe the lights.

If the guy couldn't tell you why, he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about with his own product line. Doesn't exactly give me that warm and fuzzy feeling when I'm about to shell out several hundred bucks.

That bumper is just too clunky looking. You'd probably drag that thing more than the stock bumper.

I bet you could find a local fabricator that could do it for at least as much as any of those bumpers on the market, if not less. Even if it costs a bit more, you end up with *exactly* what you want to suit your needs. The most expensive part about a rear bumper is the swing-out hinges and hardware. Everything else is just plate and tubing.

    Check out this thread:

Starting on page 2 I think, there are some good discussions on how to beef up a bumper for swingouts.

    Jesus H Christ. $3400?!

I though $1500 was pricey for a rear bumper...

For 3400 I'll build you a bumper, lol...

Breaking it down doesn't make it sound any less expensive.

So math is fun.. Just added that all up = 3200. I guess breaking it down DOES make it cheaper (by $200), lol...

    Not enough
I'm planning on getting a @Relentless Fabrication wrap-around bumper with the swing. It's worth cutting the body in my opinion as I have a dent on each side of my truck in the exact spot the wrap-around bumper would protect.. downside for you as its not a dual swing but if you ask them, they make a lot of custom features for their clients. The quality and look is spot on for most. I have their front bumper and sliders and the quality is top-notch and well worth the wait!

It’s all going to be a compromise. If you want low profile and rigidity, you’ll need to cut a small notch for that reinforcement. If you don’t care so much about low profile, you can have the reinforcement lower and thus won’t need to cut the bed. It’ll hang lower, and might look a little funny.

But imo you need to do something like that with the swing outs or the leverage will cause the bumper to flop around quite a bit. I suppose you could just really beef up the bumper without the side protection (several bumpers I’ve seen are like that), but then you don’t get the side protection.
