Why in the hell I was toughing out my Frankenstein all pro leaf springs I will never know....

These dobinsons are awesome. They literally drop the shackles out flat

 

I don't carry any weight so I got the small 3+2 pack, plus I have an access cab, so these lift numbers are always higher because it's a lighter frame.

As for pictures, I'll get some tomorrow as I was running out of daylight and I have work tomorrow first thing at 4 a.m.

Although with the wheel off, the droop I had to limit because my +5 brake lines were the limiting point.... Which is nuts.

So I believe I have enough miles on the hangers and the add a leaf to drop a review here. I will say upfront that I'm the minority here. Im not a rock crawler or trail rider/cruiser slow stuff for flexing. I use my Tacoma for dd use and now some rally stuff. Before the hammer hangers I really didn't like the rear of the stock hangers as I would feel deflection/wobble from the rear coming out of corners under power on a smooth road, no bumps or potholes. Same if I wasnt under power and letting the turn scrub some speed off. Just felt very unbalanced. For comparison I never had this in my F250 and if I were to compare one of my vehicles of similar size, my 4runner, it never felt like that and I have tracked it with great results. Granted thats a boxed frame suv with no leaf springs. Now the TSB springs and defined engineering rear brace helped compensat but the tacoma still felt limited and not well composed as I believed it could be. So I am pleased with the hammer hangers it feels more truck like and I can put the power down when I want to and feels predictable. Doesn't step out unexpectedly like before. This is without the rear brace, I forgot it when I installed the hangers so I'm looking forward to the improvement. As for the add a leaf I am pleased with that as well. It seemed to level out the truck and it helps with the squat on the tsb springs. I loaded the tacoma with 500lbs of scrape metal and barely squated. The added height also feels like it didn't negatively affect handling to a degree I was expecting. I'm looking forward to see how the new rear suspension acts on the rally course.

 

Also for reference at the 1:15 mark on the wash board surface you can see the rear stepping out. Imo its more related to the rear oem hangers vs open diff. There was a jeep jl non Rubicon and raptors that didn't step out in this section here in 2wd where I rode along.

 

At rest... And yes that's a 35" under there lol

 

Thanks Robert for getting the Hh and AAL installed and reporting back. With my experience spiritedly driving cars, autocross and a few track days, handing and suspension performance has been a keen interest of mine, and seems like for you to. From the first time I drove a friends 2nd gen, there was something annoying to me and lacking or wrong about the Tacoma suspension/chassis even in normal driving, that's why I am stoked the Hh do improve the suspension as well as they do. I didn't pinpoint the problem early, more or less tripped over it, but Archive has the solution for the stock hanger issues. Eric

 

I'm living that dream and it has not gotten old. every single drive I'm enjoying the strength of my setup, with the HH at the core of the rear. which has gotten me a bit obsessive trying to figure how i can relo my spare for the crosstube. whole last month i can't get this off my mind!

 

I can always appreciate great design that rewards the driver. The hangers look like something mod mafia makes for hummers. Very heavy duty.

 

They are way shorter then the all pro leafs that literally wouldn't drop out at all and we're staying upright... It was not fun.

Although I need to find a decent alignment shop since I tweaked my ride height in the front, and now my wheel is slightly offcenter

 

Supposedly the Firestone on Miramar if you party that way or the Truck Shop

 

So much want but my mod funds are fully depleted (and then some) for the year.

Time to make the donuts so I can get this setup in 2020.

 

Yea I had a bad experience with James, so I don't use that shop.

 

Would you mind posting your suspension setup and ride height numbers?

 

It's funny because I totally guess at the lift numbers, and as of right now my truck is dead nuts level on all 4 corners lol.
I'll post numbers tomorrow morning, but nothing special, fox 2.5 / tc uca front, fox 2.0 / hammer hangars / dobinson in rear

 

You can get actual rear lift numbers by measuring from top of the axle tube to bottom of the frame rails, stock is right about 8.25" on dozens of Tacomas I have measured
