in general, the 2020’s a little more sluggish than my 2015 4Runner was, but, like the 4Runner, I usually pop it over to “standard” shifting and drive it there, too. More responsive, and I don’t have to tap the breaks as frequently, like everyone else in the dating commute...

    Amen Brotha!

I only ended up here in a Tacoma because ordering a new one with a manual trans and equipped how I wanted was significantly less than a 5 year old 60k mike used trail edition with a manual that I probably would have had to go 1,000+ miles to find.

I'm not necessarily an OCD type typically, but just being able to see that spot would have me focused on it constantly, I comment from experience, lol.

So are many bourbons (Jim Beam included) distilled in Nelson County, KY, which unless they recently changed in the last few months, a dry county.

I have a black as well, and was considering blue, but I found that I prefer red, so that's what I went with.

Trying to get it installed with the least amount of hassle. Instructions would be nice.

Installed some 4Runner TRDOR wheels with 285/70r17 Wildpeak AT3Ws in C load range. They drive great!

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
    Hood pins?

I haven't seen hood pins in a loooooong time.

    Hmmmm...

Huh. Turns out that's a legitimate concern with aftermarket hoods.

    ...and they'd look pretty cool.

    Yup, that was me. @Rottencotton

Follow the instructions in this video for disassembly. then...

    1. thread on the shift boot retainer until snug when it bottoms out, then back off just a lil bit
    2. secure the shift boot to the shift boot retainer with a zip tie (tight, but loose enough to be able to turn without twisting shift boot)

Put center console back on (don't forget the electrical plug!)

    3. add included washer on top of the shift boot retainer
    4. thread on the gold thread adapter to the shifter as much as you can finger tight
    5. thread the new shift knob onto the gold thread adapter
    6. tighten the shift knob (should be going into the thread adapter, then down the shifter) until everything is snug
    7. tighten the shift boot retainer and shift knob so that they snug against each other --><--- (don't snug everything by bottoming out the threads at the bottom of the shifter)

I guess for extra safety measure, hood pins are required.
I never ran hood pins on my tuners and never had an issue lol.
