a silicone .. tool could form and fit into any hole you want to put it into. economical and available as a commercial off the shelf piece of.. "soft" ware.

.. there are hard ones too.

@Anderson, if I install my Drifter with the OEM shark-fin, do you think I could swap it out for your Bullet without taking the Drifter off? I have installed aluminum bedrail caps from KB Voodoo. Vagabond tells me the Drifter will fit with the OEM Shark-fin. I just don’t know how hard it will be to the the fin out with the camper in the way. I am guessing not possible.

It’s entirely possible. I have been doing the removal/install on my own truck this way since the beginning. Caveat emptor being I still have the factory bedside caps on. That should change in a few weeks and then I’ll do another test fit of the antenna. That way I’ll have a definitive answer to your question.

Good news. I guess I could do a hack saw cut of the fin and epoxy before I install the Drifter. It doesn’t have to be pretty. That way I would have room to get it off if I needed to.

The 3rd Gen is infinitely more difficult to design. The am/fm antenna is integrated into the shark fin. We are designing our own am/fm antenna to integrate into our new design.

Are you guys redesigning the whole piece electronics and all? or just the cover? I just need the cover to be flat - from the looks of it, it doesn't even need to stick up, looks like they went for a "cool" shark fin look when it could have been flat from the start.

We are just redesigning the cover.

the 3rd Gen has the am/fm antenna mounted in the upper portion of the dorsal fin. Making it flat requires quite a bit of reworking.

I take it the silver piece at the top is involved? I'm a little confused as to what makes it more work... o_O

Im not near the antenna right now to take better pictures. So, yes, the little metal piece at the top is the am/fm antenna.
