What if your UPS driver sucks and always loses your packages and you want to use another carrier?

 

This thread is funny, OP you misunderstood what that Instagram message said. They said it doesn’t include the mount, you just didn’t read it correctly. They did nothing wrong here, it was a communication error on the customer side.

 

If your UPS driver sucks, the shipping methodology used by the OP’s vendor would not be beneficial. You have no control over which service ships, according to the snippet of the shipping policy posted previously

If the customer service rep actually said “the free shipping offer doesn’t apply to the mount” then that would be clear.

What the customer service rep actually said in the chat was ambiguous and poorly worded.

On the other hand, had I been the OP, I would’ve clarified before making the purchase.

I’m not saying they made it clear, but you read what SDHQ wrote it makes sense what they were saying. They first stated that the switch pro includes free shipping, then the OP said no I have that I just want the mount, the person then said oh sorry only free shipping on those (meaning the switch pro unit). It doesn’t make sense that if there was free shipping on the mount, he would say “only” since he just said the switch pro itself would ship free. So OP this was definitely a misunderstanding, but not on the vendor side. I get the frustration but they did nothing wrong.

 

It is truly ambiguous, and if they didn't mean free shipping on the mount, extremely poorly worded. Given the context of the conversation and the leading statement, the only way it reads is "Also, only free shipping(no discount) on those (the mounts)." If they meant "The free shipping only applies to the switch pro, and not the mount" there were a thousand other ways to word it that were more clear.

The whole billing for shipping after payment is archaic at best, a scam at worst.

In hindsight given the final information, maybe, but there is no way just reading the conversation any native english speaker would read it that way. "only free shipping" means only free shipping, no discount.

 

Except there was never a discount, OP never claimed there was. The only thing he was looking for was free shipping.

That’s a stretch, the product never stated it was eligible for either. The vendor just assumed the OP saw on the site that that product didn’t specify it was on sale.

 

Honestly though in the grand scheme of things, they could have just comped the shipping and probably gained a customer instead of losing one.

 

The irony is, enough people visited the site that SDHQ might get a sales bump from the exposure here.

 

Most BF sales are of opportunity, not for long business relationships.
