Well why wouldn't they compare it like that? I mean, a USA made item for China made price? Why not!

Got some questions about rock sliders for y'all. I'm thinking DOM from either 4x or trail gear. They are both close to the same price, but I could get hrew from 4x for 280 instead of 360. Trail gear I can get from Amazon in like a week I figure but 4x has a 4-6 week lead time.

The 4x are weld on and I have to weld the legs onto the slider as well vs the trail gear which day they are bolt on and have L shaped brackets but they reccomend to weld on and that seems like what most people do. I think I would rather weld on now that I have a welder to avoid drilling into the frame and dealing with rust to follow. The main difference is the 4x I could get with or without a 2x2 square main tube and they come with a kickout vs the trail gear don't.

I think I am familiar with the advantages of a kickout, but are there any drawbacks? @G.T. I think I noticed you don't have them, any reason? And opinions on square vs round main tube?

I am pretty convinced that the hrew would offer enough protection for what I do now, but as an 80$ upgrade I figure it is worth it for the future.

My main concern with the 4x is my weld strength, but I welded quite a bit in
highschool and I'm getting back into it on the bumper definently, but the trail gear have more area that I could weld to the frame with the L bracket.

    Trail gear:

Sample weld, it is flux core and not cleaned up so try to ignore that:

Sorry for the long post but 4x ends the sale tonight so I wanted to try to get it figured out.

I avoided the kick outs for my Tacoma because I’m really long and I don’t want to deal with pipe moving the rear end around more than I’m already dealing with.

I prefer bolt ons because I can easily remove them to strip and repaint. However, I’ve seen people buy bolt on sliders and weld them on using the larger scabs.

I would definitely prefer bolt on for that reason but I don't think I have found any that bolt up to first gens without drilling and I would like to avoid that to keep rust down. Even painting after drilling and everything I figure it would wear off inside the holes quickly.

I plan to rattlecan them and I can repaint scratches on the bottom putting a piece of cardboard between them and the body, and the top I would probably put sandpaper tape on for grip.
