the only difference I am aware of is the Tie rod end stud is much smaller on the 3rd gen 4runners. Otherwise it is the same. Uses the same OEM LCAs and spindles.

Maybe Solo fabricated your LCAs incorrectly. - Made the tapered hole too deep.

I can't remember. Have you tried a different LBJ and had the same problem with the 2nd LBJ? If so, I'd say this is an error on Solo.

I don't think it's in the "design" because @MattJakobs has been running them, no problem and from what I'm understanding the ball joint stud on 3 gen runners is the same as 1 gen tacos.

At first I was wondering if the MT LCA was designed with a bigger hole to accept the solo LBJ... but Matt's experience kind of rules that out.

Don't mind my rambling... I'm just basically typing my thought processes on this.

So based on , the 3rd Gen 4Runner and 1st Gen Tacoma do infact have different lower ball joints.

The part numbers are also different.

    For Tacomas:
    Left (Driver side) LBJ: 43340-39585
    Right (Passenger side) LBJ: 43330-39815

    For 4Runners:
    Left (Driver side) LBJ: 43340-39465
    Right (Passenger side) LBJ: 43330-39585

I haven't tried another LBJ yet which is why I haven't contacted them yet.

Right, thats what I was saying. The tie rod part is different. The actual stud to connect to the LCA is not different. The LCAs are the same.

Hmm I haven't really done anything to my Tacoma yet. But I have lots of things ready or on the way for it.

    Ordered a set of these...

    Screenshot_20191202-153640~2.jpg
    Screenshot_20191202-153652~2.jpg

Got a set of seat brackets from @Daddo
    1107191723.jpg

Ordered a Rubicon seat with lumbar and heater
    524117.png
Got a crown Vic center console for gauges, radios, and switches... Plus a good arm rest
    1107191711.jpg

And I'm working on a front bumper that should be a very nice option once the fit is sorted

Oh and my 35s are in the garage waiting to be mounted on those wheels

Gotcha, sorry I didn't pick up on this. Do you by chance have any additional pictures of your LCAs? I took a good amount of pictures of the arms before installing them. Doubtful, but maybe we can see if there's any super noticeable differences.

Man... again just thinking out loud here. But I'd want to find out and contact Solo as soon as possible. First of all, those LCAs aint cheap.

But more importantly. If that's a tooling error, or something, I'd want to let them know. I wouldn't want there to be a possiblity of sending out other sets like that.

Replaced my leaking upper radiator hose. Picked up a new hose and clamps at my local dealer for $41. I was surprised how much the old hose had deformed.

Just because pictures are worth lots of words, here's the photo that shows the Taco (new parts below) vs. 4Runner (old parts below) LBJs and OTREs. You can see the different angle of the tie rod "ear," and the different size of the OTRE stud as well as a slightly different shape. From the post @JasonLee linked.

A difference in this height could cause the problems that @Blackdawg is experiencing. Even still, I don’t think the heights would be that much of a difference to where he is bottoming out on the threads and needs to use washers and spacers.

Based on this picture, I think Solo made a mistake

The length and size of the studs on the 4Runner and Tacoma LBJ are the same. 4Runner just looks a little longer b/c the boot is compressed from use. Having been there with Monte when we figured out how to solve his issue with the SOLO LCA, I'd say that it's for sure that the set he got are not right (unless he somehow has horked his LBJs...which well...it is Monte :p). Assuming he didn't though, it's just a question of whether he got the only set, or if there are others.

    3” lift. Sway a ways 2.5 on 285 75 16 and much more
I tired using my bros 4runner LBJ and tie rods on my Tacoma and his parts where smaller and didn't work. Looks like the 4runner used different parts.
