I'm on 4.88s now if I could do it again I would have went 5.29. I cant really use 4th gear unless I'm on flat land. If I go over 70 it downshifts. I'm a auto manual should be good with 4.88s

It seems outrageous that 35s "need" 4.88 or higher when 33s on stock 3.73 gears is just fine.

Not really when you consider the extra rotating mass/weight and not just the larger diameter. Sure cruising down the highway the gear ratio may get you a better rpm but accel and decel having the steeper gears helps restore some of the performance again.

:notsure: people here think my truck is a racecar compared to theirs, even on 33s. Just seems like a steep jump going from 3.73 to 5.29, lots of numbers in between.

Very few available for our trucks though. Not like the ford 9 which has a gear ratio every hundredth it seems. Also I would say it has to do a lot with wheel and tire choice. You are/were running skinnies and factory steelies. Most aftermarket offroad aluminum wheels weigh more than they do. Also tire contact patch more rolling resistance. Lots of factors to consider. I wish we had more choices in gear sets though instead of the 5 we currently have that would make it a lot better.

My truck is a bit of a fat girl too. 4.88s would be great on 35s with auto trans/ 2nd gen with a lightweight build. :notsure:

I dont mind the slow. It's the trans and engine temps that get me nervous.

PS cooler and oil cooler. Move the trans cooler and get a little bigger one with elec fan to under the bed. PS cooler can be mounted in the bumper oil cooler where trans cooler use to be.
