Yes, I’m running the harness and osram bulbs. I did the fog light upgrade too. Thanks for the retro info to get me started reading.

Just picked up a set of TRD Pro headlights for $438.70 shipped. Already got the harness and bulbs installed. Splurged and got tacomabeast tail lights as well. I do hate a full (haha yeah right) wallet...

Nicely done on the headlights! The Tacoma Beast Chinese tails are known for having early LED failures and condensation in the lens, definitely not a product I would recommend.

Damn, really? You have other recommendations? I'd read through the forums and thought the Tacoma beast ones had decent marks across the board. I'd always prefer OEM but couldn't seem to track down a decent alternative...

I'd go with OEM LED take offs from others that have swapped their rears and end up selling the OEM LEDs, or I have contemplated going back to early 2nd Gen non-LED tails. Rather than replacing the unit when LEDs fail, you just replace the bulb. Note that 3rd Gen went back to incandescents instead of LEDs for the tails.

    That's great info. thanks

You don't happen to have the part numbers for the TRD Pro tail lights do you? Are they smoked like the fronts?

I don't have the part number off hand, the Pro tails are the same as the non-Pros, they are not smoked. Depo offers blacked out OEM style tails, but they have the same issues as Tacoma Beast.

Oh awesome, good to know. I thought the tails on the pro were tinted as well for some reason. Ill stick with my OEM's then...Time to cancel an order... haha

I’ve had the Depo blacked out taillights for 3 yrs haven’t had an issue :notsure: ( knocks on wood).
I have heard some failure stories though.

I had the smoked oem style Depo tails on my truck for a decade. No issues at all with them.

Can someone give recommendation for bulb replacement or link the page number here?

the #1 recommendation says its discontinued and I didn’t catch the bulb to go with.
    Thanks!

Right below that is the update with the currently available recommended higher wattage bulb to run with the harness, the Osram SuperBrights 100/90w.

And they are AMAZING paired with the upgraded harness.

    What about without the harness?

Or is it not worth doing without the harness?

You need the harness. The bulbs pull far more power than stock, voltage drop without the harness will significantly reduce performance and the high beam draw could melt your headlight plugs or worse if the fuses hold.

The highest power light to run without the harness is the IPF X4 Fatboy SuperLows 60/80w, the high beam is stock wattage and high beam performance will be stock, but the 80w low beam will be a major improvement. Bulbs are super expensive though, and the harness would also increase output of the Fatboys as well.
