Having a go of it today, anybody have any input?

Had an interesting problem today. Not .25miles away from work on my way home I started getting some random clunk & ping. Seems to happen when slowing to a stop. But hard to pinpoint what causes it.

Can feel it in the pedals, and it feels like it slows the truck sort of jolty each time the clunk hits. Doesn't happen at constant velocity, but a little bit on acceleration and more on deceleration. Hard to say it's so random if it's when it's in gear or not.

Have been hearing a rotational growl when depressing clutch for a little bit now, so I'm thinking it's related to the clutch?

Another fact to note, the ebrake light has been on, and before I pulled over to call a tow it almost sounded like the abs was buzzing?? The light is usually on because the pull lever doesn't go all the way back in. But I WD40d the spring under driver seat, so it now retracts fully, but light is still on.

Brake fluid just below low mark. Oil level fine, I changed it 1 week ago. I replaced timing belt/h20 pump 14k ago at 200k.

Checked suspension components, everything seems tight, no sway bar. Will remove all the skids tomorrow am to get a better look under everything.

One more note, which doesn't seem related, but happened today, is the coolant leaked quite a bit from both ends of the return hose that attaches to the bottom of the radiator. Took a lyft to oreillys & back then drained the rad by the petcock, replaced the hose & filled 'er back up with coolant.

Thanks for reading all that- can anyone chime in on similar experience or suggestions? I'm off all weekend to try and get it all fixed up.

Damn that sucks, I have no idea what that could be. No harm in seeing whats up with the clutch by pulling the trans. Sweet build though, just found it!

Fun fact when gear oil gets into the brake drum it can catch on fire (thankfully I caught this before it did)

Driver side axle seal is now leaking & you can visibly see the seal unseated. I pulled off the road last night cause I heard a rotational friction- thought maybe I over-tightened the shoe inside the drum. Got out & the brake drum was SMOKING, gear oil dripping everywhere. I waited for it to cool down (thankfully didn't actually catch on fire) and I loosened the adjuster inside the drum a bunch. Drove another 100yds & could hear something still scraping around, loosened it again, another 100yds same sound. So I'm thinking the bearing is shot & I need new inner & outer seals.

I'm getting pretty frustrated at this point at my failed attempts. Looking into getting a new (to me) locking rear (which I've been wanting) as I'm open/open 4x4 right now. Trouble with getting a used one- is it may need the seals/bearings done too.

Thinking I'll bring the truck into the local Toyo/Lexus workshop and having them just go through the whole truck and try to find any/everything that's going on, as it's been one thing after another & while I'm learning a whole lot, I'm sick of crawling under the truck on the side of the road.

Here's the axle seal inside the drum that's letting all the grease in!

Also I think @Knoxdavid34 can help you with your axle seal woes, he went through some of those himself if I remember correctly

It's been one thing after the other this past month I've lost 2 axle seals (replaced passenger, driver just failed) I've replaced all brakes (will need to do rears again once these damn axle seals are redone).

I bet the rear bearings are toast- both have been exposed to gear oil and at least the driver one is growling at me.

I've replaced Rear Diff, Transmission & Transfer Case fluids, LBJs, Transmission Mount, greased the driveshaft & u joints in an effort to track down the clunking I've got going on.

I'm now considering getting an elocker rear axle/wiring, and rebuilding that with my axle shafts. Trying to track one down currently.

I'm about a day away from just taking the truck into the LexPro in Franklin and having them go over every bit and piece of the truck to see what may fail, what's causing all of my issues and any preventative maintenance they can do to keep me going another 220k.

After working on it every weekend of this last month, I'm getting tired of not fixing all the issues- calling in the big guns.

Originally from Ashland City. Moved to Galltain a few years ago. The Mrs. and I just bought a house earlier this year, so I guess we will staying here.
Kingston Springs is a nice area except for the I40 traffic. Franklin is too expensive and has worse traffic. Ha

    Congrats on the house!

We rented for a year in Franklin, & I'm so stoked not to drive 65 anymore. 40 doesn't seem so bad so far from the few times I've done it to the new house! We live next to the hood in franklin and have super less than ideal neighbors who just live on their front porch, cash that gov't check & watch us while they smoke cigs.

The house we bought is on 6 acres & you can't see the neighbors when the trees are full- SO STOKED!

So I'll be dropping the truck off at the shop tomorrow morning for a detailed bumper to bumper inspection, I gave them an incident & service report dating back to 2014 of literally everything I've done to the truck including photos, dates & mileage. Thanks to this build it was easy to make!

Will post up what they come up with tomorrow, and if there are things I'd rather not do like wheel bearings or whatnot, I'll let them do it. But if they find things that are easy, I'll definitely save the cash and do it myself.
