So the sliders did their job, got a scratch a few weeks ago and I didn't repaint them in time so it's rusted on the exposed area. Is it ok to leave it like that until I have time to touch it up or will it be like a toyota frame and spread rust to the non exposed parts?

You will he fine. After winter they will need a good go over with steel wool and repaint.

You should be fine. I wouldn't leave it longer than a month or so though. I try to touch mine up every month or so (Depending on how much I wheel). But have left rust on there for 2 or so months before as well with no issues.

Just be sure to get all the rust off before you go to touch them up.

Black spray paint would be a much better choice than plastidip

Yeah, spray paint is best. IMO is best to clean it a bit before painting anyways. Nothing extreme, maybe just a wire wheel/steel wool to get any dirt/debris out before you paint.

Battle scars... leave it until it bothers you enough to fix it, won’t rust away in your lifetime

Dude I’ve scratched and left rust on my sliders for months. Sand them, hit them with some paint, and you’ll be fine. No stress.

Don’t plastidip your sliders though. Bedliner is a great choice, spray paint is good, but no derp.

Bruh, trail rash is sexy. I say leave it for good!

Let it remind you of a good time out and smile every time you notice it.

Throw some clear over it! Haha

    Yes rust spreads.
    Proper prep really matters.
When it is warm, prep and paint with good spray paint techniques.
    Pros still use primer.
Yes you can wait a few months, more work but that flesh wound’s not going to kill anything.

I just slap more paint over the rust. By the time they actually rust out I’m sure I’ll be long gone and 6’ under

black rustoleum will be a better option, also don't just spray over the rust, make sure you remove it otherwise you're just masking and creating an even bigger issue

Touch up paint. Literally rubber glove, spray paint on your finger, dab it on. Heat gun or hair dryer to speed the process between layers.
