It's a lot of fun. I went down for 2 weeks. The race was right in the middle. This year's race was a loop all in the upper peninsula so that part kinda sucked. I've heard they're doing 2 years as loop races and then a year point to point from Ensenada to La Paz.

Also, you can pick up a Class 6100 truck or Spec Trophy truck for as low as $25K used. A new one is around $200K. They're an LS3 so still real fast....but still like 3-4mpgs.
    https://classifieds.race-dezert.com/

That 1st truck in the video I posted was $700,000 to build.

Anyway back to superchargers. One of the downsides is obtaining 91 octane in baja. It's around but not super available. I have 2 gas tanks in my truck so I can carry 35 gallons of gas. If I add a couple 5 gallons cans I don't think I'd have a problem.

Do they let people run the trail after the event is over? How cool would it be to run the point to point then camp on the beach in Baja California for a week...
    You lucky dog:cool:

The course is all open. It's not advisable to be on it during the race or right before but you can drive it after no problem. After it's all kinds of F'd up. Like around San Felipe is 3 foot tall whoops everywhere in the desert that absolutely suck to be on. There are gps maps online from years past courses as well as other races they have down there. People are super friendly, there are delicious tacos everywhere and everything except gas is pretty cheap.

I drove down to Hermosilla like mid 2000s and the people were super friendly and the cost of living was amazing, except for gas, and yes the street corner chimichangas were unbelievable.
I could totally see myself ex patting to some beach property down there:cool:

Exactly. I never plan to get rid of my truck. I’ll drive it into the ground and then rebuild it to drive some more!

Anyone have any feedback on running headers if your engine runs richer or leaner I Googled it and kind of saw a mix reviews so it's just curious if there's something that needs to be addressed having an headers installed

I can't say for sure since my truck had the TRD headers and supercharger on it when I bought it. I can't say I've ever heard of headers causing someone to run more rich or lean, I would think if anything after a certain amount of time the ECU will adjust. Unless they aren't installed correctly and there's a leak

Maybe back in the day of carburetors, but with EFI balancing it, should run the same. Might see your trims move a tad if it really frees it up.

I’ve wondered if better flow and better scavenging is the reason why my trims run positive. Or maybe my 150k motor isn’t in great shape.

My trims have always run positive too and I've had the TRD headers since getting the truck, so I don't know what they were like before to compare. But mine are always in the +3 - 7% range, never above 10

Do the headers affect low end torque?

shortys are supposed to keep the low end. But I don’t recommend 2.5” exhaust. You want that exhaust gas to be hot and high velocity for best flow and scavenging. I’m going with a straight 2.25” from Y to tip.

Well you can visibly see the difference that crap makes just by watching your ignition advance numbers. If they're up from normal then you might feel it, if they're about normal... Well then your ass needs calibration

LTFTs or total? Because if your LTFT is 7 and your STFT is 0-4 you’re around 9 Total.
