Does anyone else who's not a motto-tard find Black Hawk Down to be nothing but a string of ridiculously annoying tropes, clichés, and moto-jargon?

It's like one big moto-boner recruiting billboard for tweens.

Movies like BHD, Jarhead, Hurt Locker and all that are so cringy to me, but everyone seems to like them haha. I'm talking literally painful to watch, can't bring myself to do it haha.

I enjoyed 13 hours, Lone Survivor, of course Restrepo/Korengal as they're documentaries. Countless old war movies, because they're more movie than "accuracy". Generation Kill, which exaggerated a bit, was pretty funny haha.

Maybe it's a POG thing or a certain mindset..

But there has to be other poeple out there who see that movies like Black Hawk Down, which is often cited as THE, or at least one of the, single greatest war movie of all time, is just moto-tardation at its finest.

    Just me?

Yeah they're pretty much recruiting commercials for Pogs.

Generation Kill is probably one of the most legit ones. Because it shows the bullshit. Not the dumb rah rah moto boner shit you see in most movies.

Always. All movies get some of that Hollywood extra thrown in. But it seems some is palatable and some is offputting.

I'd never put down what the actual homies went through. Just how Hollywood made it so cringy haha.

Just a movie, really don’t care if it’s factually correct or not.

Well we're not talking about factually correct or not. The tone of alot of movies is total bullshit and it tilts me too sometimes.

Hurt Locker is prrrrrobably the worst for that.

Word. There’s movies that are accurate and your mind switches to factual mode. And there’s movies that aren’t even close to factual and your brain switches to “just enjoy it as a movie” mode. Both great

But there’s there’s movies where every. single. line. is straight out of an inspirational poster in a recruiting office haha.

Fuck Hurt Locker. Maybe because all we did was counter IED, and worked closely with EOD. Not to bash EOD; they didn’t nor would they go out on patrol alone in a single vehicle. Most everything was blown in place with a water bottle charge. They never confused themselves for some lone gunman. It’s like NCIS, where they clear the building and do interrogations. Everyone does blood splatter analysis and is equally proficient at ballistics and dirt or vegetation. Lots of the movies are over done. No idea what support guys think, suppose it looks pretty legit if you never leave the fob.

American Sniper surprised me in that aspect. Started out with pig iron and eventually had MRAPs. Pretty spot on for how we all upgraded armor over the course of time in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Are we talking about the same movie ? It seems to be one of the most realistic war movies made. I was a medic in the service for ten years including chopper work. It’s fking realistic. A little too much for my liking in parts.

I'm a huge fan of Blackhawk down. I never really watch movies for their accuracy unless it is a documentary. Movies like the hurt locker however are not entertaining at all. The way the dudes in hurt locker is ridiculous. They have the infantrymen hiding in a building while the POGs go out acting all billy badass. Give me a break.

I agree with OP. Can't stand most war movies.

    I'll stick with The Pacific

I hear you for sure. I don’t watch them for accuracy either and I’m glad there’s variety for everyone to like.

We are talking about a third factor here though ha. I’ll watch realistic shows. I’ll watch movies that aren’t realistic at all. I just can’t watch Uber-Moto shows full of cheesy poster one liners ha. No hate to anyone who can. Was just curious if I was the only one who found all the Rah-rah stuff unbearably cringeworthy :notsure:

Unrealistic shows I just put my brain in “this is just a movie for entertainment purposes” mode and don’t care about how inaccurate it is.

But when people start shouting hooya/oorrah/semperfi/“this is my safety”

Yes....Blackhawk Down is as much like real warfare as I have seem. Violence, death and brutality are totally random. When the viewer realizes the participants have absolutely no control over the outcomes, it’s as unnerving as real life.
