Is this amp any good?

This amp goes behind the head unit. Is it’s power good enough to power a 10” sub, four mids, and 2 tweeters?

I am not familiar with sound systems at all

 

Does it go up to 11?

 

It’s listed as 4 channels. How are you powering the SW?

It only has 4 output channels, so you could run the mids/tweeters, but not the sub. Assuming tweeters you are talking about are connected to a crossover that is also going to 2 of the mids. If you really have 2 separate tweeter channels, than you could only run the mids.

 

So yes it can power 4 channels at a moderate levels (Good enough for most people). The +1 is TBD.

 

so if I wanted to run a subwoofer, this amp is out of the picture? I would need a 5 channel?

 

yes, but really if you want decent bass you'll need a second single channel amp for it. a five channel amp will underperform especially on the sub. unless you've got seriously cheesy drivers.

 

It’s overpriced as well.

 

Ideally if you want to run a subwoofer, you should always run an independent standalone amp to run a sub to get the best quality out of your sub.

A 4 channel can still run all your speakers and your sub.

If you run 2 channels for all of your speakers and tweeters as long as each channel can handle the RMS wattage capability the speakers are capable of putting out on each side then you can use both rear channels to power the sub. You can also run the rear mids and the sub together in the rear channel if you want to go that route as well.

It's how I ran mine for a long time, but I noticed an IMMEDIATE DRASTIC change in clarity and quality when you run a dedicated amp for the sub, the speakers will get notably louder as well.
