By fake dome light, do you mean the festoon adapter?

The lady wants me to mount my extra SMDs in her car, I just need to figure out if it is plug and play and if I can hide them under the factory diffusers. Once she sat in the truck she freaked when she saw how bright the interior was.

Yes, the festoon adapter was too large. I just removed the spring and then it fit perfectly.

Went back and read through a few other forums. Apparently this is a very common issue, not just with MESO interior lights, but other aftermarket LED's. When your interior light 7.5A fuse blows, it doesn't fully protect the circuit (as it is a slow blowing fuse). Doesn't sound like there is a clear smoking gun solution for this, but some have had to replace the body ECU ~$650.

Really wish I would have read up on this before purchasing!

@MESO Will the Dome and Map light listed under 3rd gen Tacoma also work on 5th gen 4Runner?

Ordered a set for the Tacoma and would like to get it for the 4R.

    Got my new setup !

went to install... saw the red light for the map lights working however.... it wasn’t turning off, so I pushed the little button in the corner of the housing... then it turned off... tried to re wire it again,, because I thought I had done something wrong. and then noticed my rear dome light was not working either.

Now both front and rear will not come on...

    Blown fuse ?

That’s the first thing I’d check. Look under the dash for DOME(7.5 IIRC)
So the maps worked but then you went to install the dome and then all didn’t turn on?

I had installed one MESO map light, and it worked. However it would not turn off. So from the YouTube video I saw, there’s a little black button inside the housing of the light, you push this button and it fixes the “map lights being constantly on” problem.

After I hit this button the new light turned off.
.. I fiddled around with the new map light wondering why I couldn’t get it back on again ... I then turned around and noticed my original stock dome light was not working now.

Yeah the little button inside the map home is the stock “push on/off” button. Sometimes it can get pushed when changing out the maps, not a big deal. But with nothing turning on I’d look under the dash at the DOME fuse. Did you disconnect the battery Before plugging in? Also of fuse is good, unplug the dome at the black connector and flip around- test again.
