Hmmm, in the winds they’ve always stayed high enough that you had to wait until there were fresh tracks in early winter to get dogs on them. Although the past few years people have had success in the river bottoms in the middle of winter, but from what I’ve heard there are a few thousand running around the winds anymore.

 

Melvin 2x4 FTW...I don’t think they’ve ever released that one in Wyoming...weird.

 

I think you would be fine airing down to 5psi and driving on groomed trails that get packed in well. Your region may limit vehicles to "over the snow vehicles only" which basically means it needs tracks. Lame if you ask me but I guess it keep people who don't know there limits or are unprepared for self recovery from getting stuck in the backcountry.

 

I don't think I've had the 2x4, I'll grab that next. Everything else I've had from Melvin has been top notch.

I know someone that drove their old, shitty exploder a mile down a snowmobile trail before burying it to the frame.

They had an interesting time getting it out...

 

I freakin hate locked gates, people should know better.

Every gate in the NF around Logan closes November 15, every year no matter what.

 

Oh we have to go find fresh tracks, but we can get to them in trucks year round in different areas.

Had to chain up a dodge on all 4 to find this guy Monday morning.

 

Never saw the appeal of letting dogs run them up to a tree then just shooting them. Not really hunting in my opinion.

 

I don’t think they’ve ever released the life hopquatic in Wyoming, which is odd, considering the main brewery is in Alpine. 2x4 is the closest thing I can find now, to Breckinridge breweries old 471 formula, which was my favorite IPA of all time.

 

So is bird hunting with dogs not hunting or catching fish with a rod not fishing?

Toyota’s don’t do so good in 12’ of snow, which is why people wait for winter to hunt them. Everyone I know doesn’t bother to try and cut tracks without fresh snow. The average cat hunt here, with dogs, easily goes 48 hrs and can quickly cover over 80 miles (not straight line). In a place where I have nearly schmucked a grizzly on the highway when it came barreling out of the timber, cats are the one thing i can feel watching me but never get a glimpse of.

 

There really isn’t such a thing as hunting Cats without dogs. Pretty much a zero success rate without them. Haven’t heard of anyone even trying, I would say it’s the most difficult animal
In North America to track.

 

What? NF and all BLM except wildlife study areas are open here year round. How can they close NF to over snow travel?

The one I brought with me to CO had experimental in its name. It was part of a rotating series. I've had 3 in the series, all have been great beers. The most recent one I found a few weeks ago. All have had a very similar label, the blue is the same in all of them but the artwork varies.

So that one is likely not identical to what I brought but is probably one in the series.
