    This is what I have:

    2004 Tacoma 4x4 4cylinder extended cab 5 spd manual w/ camper top

Added accessories: ARB Bull bar with hydraulic milemarker winch on front

Planning to add: Just lights on the bullbar

I have called ARB three times and I have gotten three different answers from them. One fella told me to go with 882 springs in front, Another told me 881's because I have the 4 cylinder engine. Then I was told to get the 880 springs the last time I called.

I am not concerned about lifting the truck as much as keeping it from bottoming out when I hit a bump in the road. With the bull bar and winch on there it bottoms out easily with the stock suspension. Give me your opinion of what I should do

882... because of alot of extra weight...

iirc the 2.7 isnt that much lighter than the 3.4

So you don't think the 882's will raise the truck a bunch ? I was hoping for about 2" of lift.

it will prolly give you closer to 3 but with all that weight id imagine theyd settle to 2.5"

Im not exactly stuck on the OME lifts either. I want a really good lift on the truck that will make it ride good with that big ole bumper on there. Thought about the coilovers until I saw folks talking about having to rebuild them. I am one of those old guys that drives slow, stays out of the mud, and takes care of my truck. I need springs in the back too. I wish there was someone near me that installs lifts and does a good job that has experience on this. I live very close to Chattanooga Tennessee

No offense, but why do you have a winch then? If your not using it then you might want to just unbolt it. That would save you some weight up front. Same thing with the bumper. Are you doing a lot of country driving where you are likely to hit a deer or something?

Or, if you are using the winch and still have the stock steel winch cable, you might want to switch to a synthetic winch cable. The synthetics are just as strong and much lighter.

I wasn't able to get exact numbers when I did my looking at the arb bumpers, but they add around 100 pounds to your front end. The winch is probably another 40 or 50.

EDIT: So, if your adding about 150 pounds up front you want a spring that is 150 pounds higher rate then stock. Or, a longer spring with the same rate. Or, any combination there of. I don't remember what the stock spring rate is, sorry.

Another option would be to use a suspension preload lift like the bilstein 5100 shocks. Or the bilstein 5100 tundra shocks. The tundra billies have 5 ring positions, so you could move the snap ring up until you got the height you wanted.

Pretty much anything you do is going to stiffen your front suspension though. Your best ride quality is going to be with a longer spring at the stock rate.

with that much weight up front, you'd be better served by a pair of adjustable coilovers. Sway-a-Way, Icon, Radflo, FOA, ect. make great products. match those with a new set of custom Alcan/Dakkar leafs in the rear and you should be good to go. my $.02

I have a 2003 2.7L Extra Cab Prerunner. I just did my lift a couple of weeks ago:

Front: OME 880 Coils with Bilstein 5100 shocks set at the middle setting
Rear: Wheeler's 5 leaf replacement pack with Bilstein 5100 shocks.

    My impressions:

I think right now the front of my truck sits a bit higher than the rear. I probably should have set the 5100s to the lower setting, instead of the middle. That being said, the springs and shocks are pretty great so far. They are definitely stiffer than stock, but also handle quiet nicely on the road. Some big bumps are a bit rough, but that's to be expected.

I would also agree with the people above, if you aren't offroading, why do you have a winch and a big bumper? Take it off to save weight.

If you are set on keeping it, then probably 881 coils will do you the best for 2" of lift. I would say you need to replace your shocks as well, as I'm pretty sure the 881 coils will overextend your stock shocks. You will obviously also need to get a pretty big leaf pack in the rear to level your truck out. 5 leaf isn't going to cut it. Maybe 6 will do? I'm not sure...

i would say 882 coils with what ever you want for struts. i have 881's on mine and wish i had of went to the 882's; the 881's have settled quite a bit. that being said i still think i'm over 2" of lift. i have a v6 4x4 but i don't have a heavy bumper or winch.

Well Ill just be honest I had a buddy lift his 4cyl, and he said he has no power anymore, he barely climbs a hill in third that I climb in fifth in my truck. Just be cautious of your power losses, especially with the heavy bumper.

I have noticed no loss of power. In fact, the deck plate + AFE filter + lift, my truck has never felt more spirited.

The reason I got the bumper is because of deer. Hit a deer 2 weeks after the bumper was installed as a matter of fact. I work in the country and leave for work at 6am just when the deer are at their worst. The bumper, Its great. The winch was added because I had always wanted one. Best excuse I have for it because I never use it. I already have the synthetic rope installed.

Its either coilovers in front with new leafs and shocks for the rear or OME springs with new leafs and shocks front and rear.

Which one would be less maintenance ? Which one would you think I'd like more based on experience ?

Don't care if it costs $100 or $2000 I just want to do this one time.

Make me a xmas list of what you'd order if it was your truck and the bumper stays on

I'd personally go with OME springs and 5100's up front and a new leaf pack of your choice out back also with 5100's. Get the 881's and either the OME rear springs or wheeler's 5 leaf pack and you'll have about a 1.5 inch lift all around. OR you could get the rear after you put the front together and see how much it lifted, and then call Alcan and have them make some custom rears for you exactly how you need them.

    I have:
    ARB bar w/out winch
King Coilovers set at about 2.5"
    Rear OME suspension

That is what I would recommend. I am running 265s but can fit 33s fairly easily. Truck sits and rides very nicely. I can haul a bed full of mulch, pull the mowers, or just putter around town.

Definitely get the OME Dakar rear leafs with greasable pins and shackles though. Very nice to have.

Since kings are 1000/pr, OME 882s with N91S shocks or bilstein 5100s would be my next choice. I had 881s for 18 months and they worked great, but 882s would give more lift to level it out.

    Hope it helps.

Disregard what you heard about adjustable coilovers always requiring a rebuild. Where folks have had to rebuild, the COs have seen a lot of abuse. If your intent is to limit their use to highways and an occasional forest service road, COs will last a long time. But then so will billies. The difference is you'll have to replace the billies someday where you'll rebuild the adjustable COs made by a quality manufacturer (ICON, King, Camburg, Swayaway, etc).

    Here is your Christmas list:

$750 Mid travel adjustable COs like SAW 2.0s (650 lb Eibach coils)
$650 Alcan 8 leaf pack or Deaver 8 leaf pack (both give ~2")
    $180 5125 Bilsteins (2)

Since adjustable COs are adjustable, you will be able to easily dial in the exact amount of lift you want.

This is on a stock 4cyl xcab

    881s will give 2" lift
    882s will give 3.5" lift

I dont think the 882s will sag enough with the ARB and winch to get it where you want to be, so you might have to get coilovers.
