Has anyone tried this combo and checked for clearance? I’m about ready to purchase wheels and tires and trying to purchase what’s best for the future for my truck as well. I only put about 8000-9000 miles per year on my truck so these tires will probably (hopefully) still be around when the truck finally gets a lift. I don’t do a ton of wheeling right now but will after the truck is out of warranty and set up how I’d like. If the 285’s will clear for the time being without much issue, I’d prefer to go with the -12 offset 17’s as they’ll work best for my planned suspension setup.

I am pretty sure those tires would rub on a 2nd gen...don't know on a 3rd, but I am guessing it would be a size or two too big

    I have a 3rd gen, FYI.

I’ve seen several videos of guys with stock suspensions on a 3rd gen and running 285’s on the stock 16” TRD Off-road wheels and they clear for daily driving and some light duty off-road. However, the stock 16” wheels have a +25 offset so that’s 1.5” different than the -12 that I’m wanting to run.

I'll tell you this. My 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks rubbed on stock suspension a lot... and even rub on the rare occasion now with 1.5" lift (turning while going over a big dip). My wheels are 17x9 / -12 / 4.53 backspacing.

So with that in mind, in your opinion, would a 17x8.5 with a 0 offset be less of an issue with the 265/70/17?
