The oil leaks with only 24k miles is a nice touch on this Jeep too. Just a added bonus. Back top side is covered in oil too.

I wasn’t aiming it towards you I was more aiming towards everyone who says the taco is gutless. Tacos have good Hp just not very good torque. As for the Jeep the thing is that these new 2.0 turbo 4 cylinders have really small turbos which makes them have decent torque but the thing is they fall flat on their face in the top end. Again peak hp and Tq don’t really mean shit. I would rather have a broader power band Than one that just peaks then feels horrid everywhere else

Red-eye is the only type of gravy I've heard of for grits. I'm from NC where grits is a staple. BTW it should be country ham drippings.

I have to admit I was at a breakfast buffet one time and scooped out some whipped butter for my bowl of grits. It actually turned out to be whipped cream. Worst grits I ever had.

I drive my dad's F-150 with the 3.5EB every summer. That thing feels sportier pulling a 4000 pound ski boat than my truck does in my DD configuration. Gets almost the same mileage too. I like my taco, but I'd take the drive train.

I'm sure the Jeep 4 cyl turbo motor you drove is from some other euro POS vehicle Fiat makes... which explains it lack of any power.

My brother took home a 2016 Cherokee TrailHawk with the 2.0 turbo and he said it would not even get safely onto the interstate... he ended up with the V6 version and likes it.

I rented a DCSB frontier with the limited trim for a week and put nearly 1000 miles.

The low end torque was nice and the trans shifted smooth. But, it had no balls when I’d put my foot down. The interior quality was garbage for a “limited”. But the thing that killed me was the god awful turning radius.

There is no perfect vehicle. I was well aware I wasn’t buying a Porsche when I got my Taco, I think the gripes about the engine are far over blown. I bought it for utility and reliability and as long as the thing keeps going, I’m happy :)

I completely disagree, I have a GTI with a 2.0t and it’s more powerful and smoother than the taco motor. 70k in and no oil burning or any issues. Maybe a shitty fiat motor might be junk, but a good 2.0t from a company that’s been building them for almost 30 years is not.

I guess I meant to say in larger vehicles, like the overworked 1.5Ls in Honda CRVs and certain GM crossovers...

The 4-cyl Cherokee is just a glorified Fiat with a rear locker. Can't believe I tricked-out a Trailhawk and drove it for 70,000 miles. My V6 Tacoma is better in every aspect other than the interior.

The only way I'd entertain a turbocharged Tacoma is if Toyota made a multi port engine. I have no interest in the carbon buildup issues of a DI engine. It's one of the reasons I got rid of my GTI.

So you'd rather have the turbo motor... I agree.

I’d rather have a good designed engine. Doesn’t necessarily need to be turbo :anonymous:

I'm coming from a 3.5 ecoboost F150 and I think that's why the Taco was such a shock for me initially. Over the last 10K miles I've gotten used to it and the power is adequate. I would really love a small turbo 6 in the truck though.

Ford solved the DI only issues and doesn't have carbon build up so no reason Toyota wouldn't be able to either. But in reality ours are already dual injection and would be surprised to see Toyota go away from it.

This is the future. Toyota IS and will always be behind in tech. It's a proven fact that this Honda motor 1.5 turbo is returning 40+ mpg hwy and has 180 hp. I have owned 2 and my son 1!!! A 2016, 2017, and a 2018. All driven hard and absolutely no problems. The 2017 has 90k miles trouble free.
Toyota plays it safe. Keeps things simple and tried and true. This is a good thing. However it leaves us with outdated vehicles. Hence Android auto and car play. Honda had it since my 2016 Civic.

I did buy my taco for reliability and not power or fuel mileage. I love my truck!
