I’m looking at possibly buying a 2007 Tacoma trd how is the reliability? Do they have a timing chain or belt?

Get it up in the air and inspect the frame. If there’s rust holes in a 2007, it’s a $10,000 paperweight.

Both the 2TR-FE & 1GR-FE are timing chain motors. Reliability on both are great. As mentioned already, rust is what you really need to look out for with a 2007 model

    welcome aboard

Called the lot and they said the frame looked like it was replaced by Toyota under the recall. Thank you for the information.

Verify for yourself before dropping your sheckles. Via Toyota, not just looking.

You spoke with a salesman. I've heard they lie sometimes. Like when their lips are moving.

But of course that's not true of all of them. Just too many.

Get the vin and run it yourself through Toyota. It will tell you if the recalls have been done

I'd say mine's been pretty reliable after 430,000 miles

Bought mine in 2012 with 30,000 on the clock. Almost 8 years and 67,000 miles later it's been trouble free.
