    Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone has replaced their driver seat before.

Mine is a bit beat down and I was looking at replacement options.

I guess I am wondering a few things....
    1) Any OEM websites out there that sell them? Should I contact dealer?
    2) Are aftermarket seats any good? I do see plenty of options on CarID.com, etc.

    Thanks for the help!

A good quality car upholstery shop can refoam and recover, maybe an option.

And not as pricey as one would think, they do it all the time. Years ago my father got some seat frames for a 1960 MGA, needed a little welding repair, then off to the upholstery shop. They came out great.

If you find the OEM seats comfortable, try a local junkyard. Another [cheaper] option that I've read about somewhere on here is buying seat covers and add some cushion under the covers. :D

My $0.02, but the OEM seats are pretty uncomfortable so if I reached that point I would look at something aftermarket for sure.

I've been wishing that you could swap in the new TRD Pro seats into our generation. Looking into upholstery shops as the stock seats are murder on my back injury. And I dream of ventilated seats...

i tried getting a ford seat refoamed at a local auto upholstery shop, and all he did was try tomconvince
me that 1 side of the foam wasn't worn out (sitting in it made me lean left) and then tell me that i needed to source the seat foam from ford. dunno why an uphosterer wasn't interested in doing upholstery and foam smh

Only thing wrong with mine is the tear in driver outside bolster. I have been thinking of switching the factory seat cover bottom only with the passenger side. Would have a hole left in the passenger side from the lumbar knob, and would have to make a new hole for the lumbar knob in the one I moved over, but it would be like getting a new driver cover! Moving the driver side would hide the current damage where it would never be seen.

Not sure if that helps, but its a thought.

like others have said check a local upholestry shop BUT also if you are having back issues in the stock seat check out the seat risers that a guy on the forum sells- added one inch in hieght in the rear of the seat and eliminated all my back discomfort- fwiw

You don't remember the member's name by any chance? Quick search didn't turn anything up...

I was in the same boat last year. Figured out that going to a good upholstery place is 10 times cheaper.
