You cant just hit it. You have to hit it sharply, with purpose.

So assume ok to purchase the Toyota Flash Kit now and then we will be advised when the 2020 files are ready?? Picking up my 2020 tomorrow and I'm stoked to be back in a vehicle that can be tuned.

After 2700 pages I believe this is the first mod that should be done !

    Thanks everyone -

    Just heard back from OVTune...

"We sell the license to people who purchased our tactrix or bought our secondhand tactrix."

So I guess I have to have their magical tactrix and can't the tactrix cable that I already have. Darn...

We license our software to our special version of the tactrix cable, that tactrix makes for us.

Think about it, if we sell a license for any random tactrix out there, then you can get licensed and tactrix for $325 + $180 for a new tactrix.
So we only license our cables.

we do not give out licenses to units that are not provided by us. It's been this way.

But, you used to sell a Flash Kit without hardware for about $170.00 less. You said when you took the option away to eliminate some confusion that you would coordinate sales offline for those that have a Tactrix bought separately (grey shell).

Is that no longer the case? Because I know that I sent a few people your way that are in this situation. Basically, about $530.00 considering your current prices.

Yes but only for those orders, which was a long time ago. So as of any order about 18 months or newer they come with our cables.

We aren't offering software only option any longer and won't license cables unless it's ours.

We had no choice when people were "pretending" they were getting them second hand to get the software cheaper.

Thanks for the info. I will tell folks that when they ask.

My apologies if I told that to folks in this thread.

I understand from your perspective. I just think it's a bit silly from mine :) No worries here, though!

So no "sharing" of a cable even if proof of purchase directly from you can be provided?

Cable sharing is ok, but like we always request now, we will need a picture of the bar code and ID on the back of the cable to license the new truck. With a secondhand cable.

    Think of it this way:

Our cables come with access to our tunes.
Then you purchase a license to flash the truck.

That way you guys can always resell your cable and recoup some of your investment later if you trade in the truck, etc.

And why we offer licenses for our secondhand cables.

Just like other tuning options. You buy the cable you get the software buy you also need license...or credits.. Etc to flash the vehicle

This makes me feel better about selling my tactrix from my subaru before i owned a tacoma. I was kicking myself for selling it thinking i could have used it for this vehicle.

Thank you, what would the cost of a license be if I was to share my cable with my coworker?
