New to the Tacoma works here so bear with me.... 1997 Tacoma transfer case 4cyl, 5speed with manual lever will go into low range but will not power front axle. Checked hubs can lock in hubs spin shaft and front wheels turn. Can put in 4 hi same thing no power threw the t case. Is it possible that chain broke? No noise out of the case. I guess what I’m asking would it be better to find a used one put it in or tear apart and rebuild. Truck has 343k under it love it want it to make 500k hopefully

are the automatic cases same thing will they work in a manual and what is the locker how do I tell what I have?

    4 run, 2 don't
Easier thing to check is, are the hubs properly assembled/lubed?

I've already pulled 2 sets off of vehicles and when they were difficult to remove, it's because the spring popped off in a weird way causing them to be "inoperable".

Just figured I'd give you something that's easier to diagnose rather than straight into the transfer case.

Hubs click in sounds almost like a firing pin click. Jacked the truck up off all 4’s put in gear hi and low shaft would not turn from own power.
