2016 OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Manual Transmission / Engine ECU Reflash

Ahhhh, the ole 6th to 2nd downshift, huh? You wild.

Stock tires. Mine only has about 1200 miles so I'm not bouncing on the limiter. I've never really made a habit of that because I like all my rod bearings where they are currently.

 

Finally, flashed my car for the first time.

I started with 1.5 FOB.

Wow! The difference is significant.

1) the car feels noticeably faster
2) there is definitely more power in the lower end

3)the engine note is different. Further, I had slight gurgles at lower RPM before the flash. Now, I have louder gurgles at and at higher RPM

 

Hey, Folks.

We just got confirmation in the Dev thread that OVT no long sells software only Flash Kits. So if you have a Tactrix not bought from OVT, you will have to purchase the Flash Kit with the OVT Tactrix as the only option other than buying a used OVT kit.

My apologies if I told folks in this thread that you could get a software only Flash Kit.

I'm thinking of flashing 04B13 using tech stream. I've already flashed OVT 1.05. Once I flash 04B13 will I need to reflash 1.05. Not really sure how all these different flash programs work with one another. If they will overwrite each other or does it matter in what order you flash?

 

Yes. You will need to reflash OVT. The Toyota tune is a base and OVT modifies a lot of the data, but not all of it. I tend to think of it as a layer, but it is more significant than that. Still, you want the best base that you can get.

Let me clarify just a bit,yes you will need to reflash 1.05 but must reflash with the appropriate 1.05 tune file for the 04b13

So all I need to do is select 04B13 on the drop down menu in the flash manager, I don't need to send OVT anything correct?

 

Well a while ago, I would have said yes, but my track record is slipping.

Give it a shot in FM and see what happens. If it is all good you will see the file appear in the download folder.

 

Been away a while. Is there a 2.0 finished tune yet or still running betas? On my phone so I can’t check flash manager and also don’t want to read the 100+ posts lol. Thanks! Love you all

That is only for the grey Tactrix bought from Tactrix themselves. You can still buy a used OVT kit and get a licence at a reduced cost.

 

So i bought my OVT when they were out of cables, so i had to buy my tactrix separately. Does this affect me? Im not sure i understand what this means.

 

It's only for folks buying the tune these days.

 

So I tried to Flash 04B13 but when I scanned for updated Flash programs Tech stream is telling me that there are no updates.

 

Unless I am mistaken you would not be able to scan/search for updates unless you have the paid version or are a dealer. Also I see you have a 2018 so you may already be a 04b13 ecu. I am sure someone will be along to correct me if I am wrong.
