had to replace the windshield on the the daughter’s Subaru.... similarly equipped w/ safety camera stuff... it required replacement in shop and a recalibration/ “bore sighting” (my term) of the cameras.

 

I've heard a few other people complain about needing to recalibrate. But I've got a 2017 so no first hand experience.

Tell your insurance company you wish to retain the vehicle. They may total it, and give you a check for it minus the salvage value. It might get branded with an R title. Each insurance company has slightly different guidelines and each state has slightly different rules, but most of the time it’s pretty easy for the owner to retain their damaged vehicle.

Oh for sure, they’ll all do exchanges. But Brian and I like our unnecessary shiny pretty tanks so we can’t be exchanging that away.
