You lose your truck bed and you can only fit a sack of potatoes in one and a skateboard in the other..

 

Off brand smoked headlights, all bulbs included and in working condition. Had them on my truck and while they look pretty good in the daytime, they just reduce the light output too much. Go figure, eh? I have no idea what brand they are. I bought them secondhand, still with the plastic on them. I had them on my truck for two or three months. There are some scratches and smudges on them from brushy forest roads. They never fogged up on me. None of the tabs are broken. I just don't like them, and when I decide to let shit go, I set the price to move it quickly. They're out of the truck and ready to go.

How about $40 for the pair?

Why do you think you are seeing some many for now after just a bit of use?

While they give you a ton of weight capacity on the top (far exceeding the truck's ability), it is a very inefficient use of space as you noted. If I remember the math I did on it correctly, it gives you 6 cubic feet of storage but takes up 22 cubic feet of bed space....

It's a decent option for people who don't have the equipment, space, or skill to build their own drawer system. The multi-piece install is great for easier install/removal/storage, and it's a good start to a bed camping setup assuming you have a canopy.

All that said, an armsaw and some plywood and you're half way there are 1/3 the cost.
