TRD OFFROAD Hood Vinyl

Mine is holding up great to the abuse I've been giving it.

 

Are these still being made? Anyone with pics on a Cavalry Blue truck?

 

I was able to order one of these recently and finally got around to the install. This Tacoma is really the first thing i've started doing wet vinyl applications with, so far i've done the tailgate letters, off road wheels, flag and trd bed decals. Using these items have helped tremendously;

I started out / intended to do this install by myself, which would of been possible I believe, but a buddy showed up and having a second set of hands was very helpful with the initial placement of the decal. I took LOTS of time measuring / placing marking tape. The rear curve does not match the lines of the hood so I let it hang over about 1/4" and used a heat gun to help tuck it under. Overall it came out great, the vinyl material is high quality. Any creases from shipping came right out and its only looking better as it sits in the sun.

 

Looks great, did you get the vinyl from rlmsigns in the OP or someone else? I have tried emailing rlm signs but haven't heard back.

I wrote to Mike at rim signs via email address. It took a couple of days to get a response. I ordered the extra wide trd version. He sent a paypal invoice a couple of days afterwards. The man most likely does this as a side gig and gets to it when he has time. I’m expecting about a two week turn over before it’s shipped. Good news is he still does the hood decals!!

 

Gone back and forth on whether I’d like a hood vinyl. Main concern is I have a couple hail dents. Would the vinyl show them off worse or hide them more than just them being somewhat hidden by metallic paint and shine; only seeing them when light hits them just right.

I installed this by myself and it took about 90 minutes using the wet application. I did add in a hair dryer to speed up the part where the vinyl is adhering to the hood before you saturate and peel off the application paper. Super pleased with the outcome. Thanks Mike!

 

Can you make custom designs?
I saw this on ebay. I think it looks nice

 

Not speaking for the OP, but I couldn’t imagine ever getting that design to line up straight.

 

Does any one have pictures of this decal on a MGM tacoma

 

That's definitely my biggest fear with this, would annoy me forever if it wasn't perfectly straight

The install for the RLM hood wrap went on really easy with the wet method. I could slide/adjust the entire decal. Trust me, I would notice the tiniest offset and its straight.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have the local shop install it for me...
