I did the fog light mod shown in the Cheap Mods Post about 2 weeks ago on my 2010 Tacoma DC and yesterday found my driving lights on after I shut off the truck. I had the driving lights on when I shut off the truck so I'm not sure they ever went out, however I believe they should go out when I turn off the truck. I got in the truck and turned off the lights without the truck running and then turned the switch to the on position and they came back on. I restarted the truck shut off the lights then turned off the truck and tried the lights again - they stayed off. Anybody else experience issues like this and if so did you resolve them and how?

Tap to a wire that goes off with ignition. I did the mod with no problems.

To the OP: Double check and make sure the green wire you tapped into is in the correct harness. I think there was another member that did the same thing where the wrong harness was tapped into.

David, you should also check your wiring too. I've never had my lights come on.

No problems here..I did the mod with a minor adaptation..I stole the relay power from the marker light circuit so I still have complete control of the fog lights but they turn on and off with the rest of the lights when I turn the ignition on and off.

    Nick54,
That sure looks like the same green wire I tapped into (6-pin small white plug, SOLID GREEN WIRE which is the top left corner of the actual plug), mine works fine.

I used an electrical tap instead of solder.
I guess you will just have to make sure you turn fog light switch off when you shut off truck.

Steig, that's the plug and wire that I used and I used a splice connector as you did. I guess I don't know what to do at this point.
    Thanks

Not sure about your situation there Nick54, hopefuly you can get it worked out.
I did find this article, and this can possibly make your fog lights come some times, but this is not the way yours or mine is wired.
    Just an FYI.

"Find your light blue fog light relay, remove the relay and bend the top right pin from the relay to the side pointing outward, Attach a female butt connector to the bent relay pin. The other end of this wire will run to one side of a 5A fuse. Once you have your wire running from the relay to one end of the fuse, now run a wire from the other side of the fuse to the red 10A fuse that’s located directly to the right of the relays location.. Now you’ve completed this modification. Something you might note doing this modification this way, I’ve heard that in some cases if the fog light button is left on, your fog lights will sometime have a tendency to flicker on/off after 4-6 hours of sitting. The fog lights evidentially will come on for a minute or so then turn off repeating this process every 4-6 hours"
This is not my writeup - just a quote on a article I found

I know the marker lights or headlights shut off when you open the door, not when you turn the key off. They also stay on after the key is turned off and the door is open if you turn the headlight switch at all after the key is turned off. Starting and turning off the engine resets the sequence.

And for the record, I've never seen my fogs come on after the key's removed either.

As for the fogs turning off with the rest of the lights, the green wire mod turns them off with the key. So you can't accidentally turn them on with the key off and leave them on until your battery drains. (I did that twice on a previous vehicle.)
