Anybody have any experience with the Pedal Commanders? I’m in the market to buy one and wanted to see what if anyone had any back ground on them.

Save up a little extra and get an hp tuner instead. So many more benefits.

How does that compare to an OVTune?

So this begs the question, why is OV Tune so much more popular here at such a higher price? What are the benefits of the HP Tuner that you've seen? Increased HP, better shifting, MPG, etc?

I am curious about the same thing. I understand that I can GOOGLE the two products.... which I am going to do after this post! But any computer diagnostics, proof or dyno (which I know prob. doesn't happen with many TACOS unless they are Turbo'd or Super Charged) Is there benefit of doing something like this before Large Scale modification of engine components? Thank you guys for any info provided!!!

Shit... Hopefully. Truck is still at the shop. Debating if I want to hold off and enjoy the truck a bit.. or just finish all this up. Still waiting for my NST lightweight pullies too.

HP Tuner is a legitimate tuner. OVtune and the like are essentially a piggyback/plugn play system (you don't have full control of the ECU). I haven't used either, (yet) but I went with HP for their track record, established reputation, and features. My truck as well as @snowsk8air2 is boosted.. so a full tune is beneficial.

Like @XPOTRPR said, the hp tuner gives you essentially full control over the ecu. As far as no front page info on them vs ovtune, I believe currently hptuner does not support 3rd gens, however, at SEMA a few weeks ago there were several 3rd gens, and 5th gen 4runners sporting the hp tuner so it is coming very very soon. Hptuner is a big company that has been around for a long time and has a great reputation for providing quality products and services so the fact that they are starting to dabble in the Toyota scene is huge for us. Ovtune on the other hand is a single guy that has been in the Toyota tuning scene for a while, but just lacks the support that comes from a larger company. He gives a lot of love towards 3rd gens, but I’ve heard of people waiting several months for updates tunes or one on one support. That said he has chimed in on the hptuner thread and helped a few people out since he is a Toyota tuning enthusiast.

For what hptuner provides, you get basically full control over the ecu: data logging, trans tuning, ignition timing adjustments, fuel adjustments, cel code deletion... you can mess with just about everything to the point that it can be dangerous for someone not knowing what they’re doing. Personally I’ve seen power increases, firmer shifting, better shift points, better overall drivability, and a slight increase in mpg.

Dig around in here and ask questions if you need more information. Lots of people that know way more than me in here.
