If you do find out the time they usually come, set up a live Camera and wait till the owner walks there with the dog. Aim the sprinkler heads towards where they usually walk and turn on the sprinklers as soon as he lets the dog shit.

That's the problem, if I knew even an approximate time, I would watch the footage from the junk camera I have, but I have no clue.

Depending on if you’ve confirmed dog poop or there’s the possibility it’s another critter, coyotes and foxes tend to poop in the same spots.

I was just talking to a friend about the deuce and he said he is willing to bet it's a cat, considering my neighbor across the street has about 20 if them. It's pretty damn big for cat shit though.

I have some ideas on how to find the segment in that 40hours. How large is the file or files? Would you be willing to share the video?

Any video can be scrubbed through quickly. Just need video editing software instead of viewing. There’s free ones online. Could zoom through it in 30 min.

Nice. I never knew something like this existed. I hope I don't have to resort to something like this but nice to know. I could see this setup as a prank for anyone who walks by your house or by your front door :)

Shoot the dog then owner. I did cayenne pepper in area in front my condo saw dog sniff then sneeze nonstop the owner asked dog..."why are you sneezing so much whats wrong" like dog really gona reply back. See him occasionally take his dog to different area after but never let it crap in front of his.

It was on a micro SD and this was a few months ago, I got lazy and the camera wasn't installed for a while. I just hooked it back up today. I had a few tech savvy friends try and find the footage on that video, but they could not. I am sure it can be done, but not by me.

There are some simple options with ffmpeg and Python that may work. If you feel like sharing the video, I'll give it a try.

    - Crop the video to the area the crime occured
    - Convert to JPEGs
    - iterate over the JPEGs with Python. Apply transform like FFT or something similar.
    -graph FFT results with matplotlib

I'm expecting the output would be a line graph with a spike or anomaly somewhere. A more difficult and robust methodast woul be too use OpenCV.

Interesting, there is a friggin monster of a raccoon that I believe lives on the roof, but this definitely looks like dog turds.

Sorry, I meant to say that the video is long gone now, it only holds for a few days then it records the new stuff, otherwise I would share it for sure. I appreciate the info. If the same situation happens, I will try this.

    Also, lol at the crime.
Edit: Those words literally look like a foreign language to me, except for Jpeg. I honestly wish I knew how to do all that cool stuff.
