Kicker KS, Focal, Alpine, Power Bass, etc. looking to install a set of component speakers. What are your thoughts? Last vehicle I installed JBL GTO series speakers and the tweeter produced irritating highs. Looking for something with smoother highs. Will probably add a mini amplifier to power(Alpine, Kicker)

If you don’t like the highs for the JBL’s, the alpine S-type sound very similar. I like them better, but they’re still on the brighter side. I can’t speak for the new R-type, but they’re in a whole different price range than what you listed.

I have the Kicker KS myself and love them specifically because of the tweeters. Very smooth even at high volume. Harsh/bright highs give me a headache. I can have the KS very loud for the 3 hour drive back to my parents house and my ears aren’t fatigued.

Haven’t played with the focal integration series yet, and don’t have any experience with PowerBass other than a few of their subs.

the little brick amps are great additions. Can’t go wrong with either of them. I like the Kicker Key better than the Alpine power pack if you’re keeping the factory head unit, but the alpine is a solid amp for the money. I probably do 2-3 a month of both.

Where are you mounting crossovers? I plan on putting the tweeters in the dash.

I have the crossovers against the outside walls above the kick panel. Basically shoved up there with a zip tie holding them in place. Nothing fancy at all but 2 and a half years later and they haven’t budged.

I put in the Focal components with an lc7i and small amp and they sound amazing. More than enough for me.

I have JBL stadiums but added the 2 inch midranges. Yes they are pretty harsh on the highs, but its mellowed out a fair amount when I added the midrange speakers.

Just put in some audiofrog g60s components that sound really great, plus to ease installation each speaker comes with its own crossover. Saves wiring issues so you don’t have to run a wire from your tweet to your woofer. Or you can wire the crossovers all together in the rear like I did.
A little pricey at $350 a pair, but worth it for sure for a front sound stage.8DA2FA60-51FD-4869-9A87-6E7CDFEED35C.jpg
