Thanks Wackyhacky! The black looks pretty good with Silver but holysheet! the grey just looks so clean (if that’s the default vagabond grey).

And as others have pointed out, its heck of a lot easier to sell a used black Drifter than a color matched one. I have a silver 3rd gen and the black powder coat will be my color of choice when my Drifter is built in January.

Yeah, but the Drifters are so sought after that you could have one that's powder coated shit brown and still sell it in a week!

I have a sunroof on my DCSB

Anyone know much of the sunroof isn’t blocked by the drifter?

A little less than half of the sunroof is covered on my 3rd gen. I can get you a picture from the inside if you want. It's actually nice having some shade there in sunny days lol

Yes they are at this moment, but how about 10 years from now?

With how little Toyota changes their designs the Drifters made now will probably fit the 6th gen being sold then.

If heavy, poorly built, moldy, torn tent, self-exploding Flippac's still sell for 70% of new pricing, I'm not worried about the resale of a Drifter one bit.

I’m in a DCLB so it will be different but my sun roof is only about 1/4 covered FWIW

10 years from now the OG Drifters will still be a hot ticket item on the used market and what ever the hell the Vagabond boys think up between now and then will be the current backlog driver lol

ain’t that the truth. @Overlanerd and I both have been there done that with Flippac’s

I lucked out for the 4 months I had a Flippac. One of the last ones made, somehow the previous owner convinced them to take his cash and actually deliver where others lost their deposit and such. I ended up flipping it to someone in Texas that drove out to buy it. It was in mint condition. A few months later, he then sold it to an older couple that was touring the US.
I was always paranoid that it would break and I'd have to find the nearest marine supply store to buy flimsy plastic/aluminum bimini parts to hold the tent up, or it would crack or the torsion bar would snap or the hinges would rust or the wood would rot or....

I have no concerns of the Vagabond lasting or having issues.

I lucked out as well. Our Flippac was only about 6 months old when we got it from a couple that cared for it well. We did the same and had a lot of great years of use with it. It’s still currently being used regularly by the new owner and going strong but it was still a no brainer for us to jump on the Drifter train!

Same, no concerns, we will live ours for all the years to come!

Wait, you guys might resell your Drifters? o_O

In all seriousness, I'm the kind of person that finds something that works well and sticks with it until I wear it out. I really hope that's the case with the Drifter. I like my Taco so much I'm hoping that 15 years from now the EV-conversion market is a big thing... either that, or gas is still cheap enough to make rebuilding my 4.0 (and the rest of the truck) worth it.

That's my plan, but I'm not sure how long my frame will last. Also, if an accident happened, I'd probably look for a rolling chassis to move it over to and transfer my rebuild engine/trans.

No plan to sell the drifter or the taco. It will likely take a different form down the road but will still be in our family. Maybe my daughter will drive it and camp out of it on her own one day.. if she's lucky.
