    Performance failure? Hm, seems....odd
Why would I look at older models for transmission failures on a 3rd gen?

I drive in a big city too, and would NEVER drive an automatic in heavy traffic.
gas brake gas brake gas brake gas brake. Enough to make you insane.
Its much more comfortable to stick it in 1st and feather the throttle.

Because they aren't old enough to start failing yet as they will eventually.

You don't need a crystal ball. Look in the forums for the older trucks and you can see.

Can you show me a car or truck model that exhibits zero failure over a period of decades?

Those are not the same transmissions. Thats like saying all cars are hunks of shit, just look at yugos....your logic is fairly flawed.

If you drive slow it will search. In a situation of a car up your ass I don’t see a problem. With a heavy right foot, stomp your foot to the floor. At High rpms this truck moves. Well over 100mph! Ask me how I know!

    probably should buy a Porsche.

I bet most Tacomas with manuals will have to replace a clutch or two before my automatic fails.

I can drive a stick car anytime I want. There is a nearly 500hp car in my garage with a 6-speed.

More expensive, maybe maybe not, dealers love to mark up MTs because they are harder to find. More annoying, that's subjective (I don't think so). Less reliable, thats highly debateable... these autos are known to go well over 400k miles if taken care of with regular fluid changes. There's a 1.2 million mile Tacoma out there with the original unopened automatic in it. With manuals, you've got clutch changes every 50-150k miles and synchro replacements.

Buy a manual for the driving enjoyment not for reliability.

Do you really think that the "new" one is all that different?
And given the history of cars where ALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SHIT, it would be pretty unreasonable to imagine that this one suddenly isn't.

You sound like you are stuck in the 80's where manual vehicles were faster more reliable etc etc etc

Your thought process is way off.
Clutch is the "go" equivalent to doing a brake job. $100 and a saturday afternoon is all it costs.
Automatic transmission dies? $5000+ and it will never work the same.

Uhm no. $5000 will get a brand new automatic, probably less than that. Keep pushing your ignorance though.

5000 dollars!?!?! What type of overhaul are you doing. I had an auto rebuilt to hold 700hp in my Trailblazer SS for about that price. Do this trucks have 300m input and output shafts and all the other high end goodies?
