Baja Designs: General Discussion Thread

So the S1 laser lists 2000 lumens but the XL Laser also lists 2000 lumens. Is the laser chip in the S1 different than the 4 that are in the XL? Or is this a typo? Or am I stupid?

Baja Designs | SAE Compliance Service Bulletin


In November 2019 a third party made Baja Designs aware that the SAE Squadron was out of compliance with J583 guidelines. We immediately shipped samples to a testing facility for further verification. Our testing discovered that the light was over by 119 candelas on the upward horizontal axis. In more understandable terms, that is the equivalent of 1.19 candles at 10 meters. Our engineering department has been working on a fix for existing customers ensuring their SAE Squadron’s comply. We have developed a lens insert that has been tested and confirmed by Intertek, the global leader in compliance testing, that can be installed into existing products.


Current backorders of our SAE Squadron will ship in 3-4 weeks. Existing customers can either install the insert themselves or contact Baja Designs directly requesting a shipping label. Once we receive the light in-house, our trained technicians will update the SAE Squadron followed by expediting the now compliant Squadron back free of charge.

I ordered a set of S1s along with some others but since my guy drop ships I don’t expect to see it real soon.

get to play with those yet? I’m pretty curious to see how they stack up to my S2 pros

 

Finally put the onx6 20” bar in after having it since summer. Full wiring and full functionality to come Christmas 2020

 

No - been too busy but I did basically put these where I would have had my S2 pros up front and am going to put my S2’s in back for reversing off-road and parallel parking in small neighborhoods.

 

@Baja Designs will there be a cover / rock guard made available for the s1?

 

got any pictures to share of your setup? I’m really wanting some real world input on the S1s, I have a set coming but I think they’re slow moving out the doors at the moment.

 

I finally figured out the perfect application for this. Rear mounted, aimed right a drivers face. The ultimate fuck you light for tailgaters, without disturbing anyone else.







(Don't worry I wouldn't actually do this. It'd probably kill them.)

Yeah really. Or just really want to be able to say you have a laser light on your truck. I kinda want one even though it would serve me no purpose other than to show my friends "Hey look at this bright ass boi"

A plus is that no one would be able to see the fuck you beams aside from the intended recipient
