I played through a vintage 1966 Fender Princeton amp, now I know what all the fuss is about!
In a neighboring town Saturday, visiting a sewing machine shop with the wife. I got bored, and ran over to the nearby GC. Having just bought my Les Paul Standard 50s, the wallet is on hard lock-down, so I am careful to keep my distance from the guitars, focusing on the accessory aisle.

I decide to stroll past the used amps (still don’t know why). Remembering that I promised myself I wouldn’t play anything. Then, I saw it. Curiosity got the best of me. I saw the $1799 price tag, and genuinely wondered if all the hype was over pixie dust. So, remaining somewhat skeptical, I literally grab the nearest guitar. It is a Squier Affinity Telecaster, so nothing drool worthy. I didn’t touch anything, other than rolling the volume down (always a good idea at GC). I didn’t even pay attention to where anything was set, because I wasn’t really auditioning the amp, BUT...

Wow! Just wow. The $199 Squier Tele sounded HUGE through it! Such pure tone, and the dynamic responsiveness was magical. From clean to snarl, without touching a knob. It was also surprisingly quiet running. I think a potato would sound great plugged in to that amp! I was glad I didn’t plug the nice Les Paul in, that was dangerously close to me. I would’ve been loading that amp into the back seat of my truck, before I realized what I’d just done. No kidding. I ran far, and fast, as it was. I went straight to a gas station, and bought a lottery ticket.
I just can’t be GASsing right now. Grrrrrr!

I got a stool just like that at harbor freight for less than half that much money. I’m 5’6”, so I sawed a few inches off of the legs, and put the caps back on them. Works fine.
