I'd weld it. As in, I would do the weld myself and not trust someone else to do it, but YMMV.

It's just the strut mount at this point, and in a non-structural area at that.

no way I'd take a weld job on a suspension part where it is under constant load and subject to impact. That is asking for disaster and something much worse. Get oem - maybe check the local bone yard even - just cause it was sent to the grave does not mean the lca's are not good. Lots of reasons for the grave yard - including welding on a part that is safety critical.

I regularly weld things that take impact from 2-3000lb animals falling from a height constantly. People worry too much.

If the shop refuses to budge, it is OK to weld it. The whole LCA is welded after all. Some mods like the Icon secondary shock mount require welding to the LCA as well. Compared to all the other fuckery routinely done here (like cab mount chop or rear shock tower relocate) this is low on the risk scale.

some stop worrying when they die. I'd just rather be safe than not. Keep welding. Pretty sure the animals have full confidence in you. better yet send him your lca's and then weld and mount his. All good!

This part of the shock mount literally does nothing. In fact, you could have that entire shock fall out and beyond a bit of crazy steering for a few moments be just fine. If you were welding the balljoint back on I'd say it was a bad idea, but it's a crack in a part of the mount that only serves to add rigidity to the shock mount area.

fair enough. Guess the Mother Ship can save a few bucks by changing their design since it is flawed.

My guess is, that Toyota will say that the rust that you see is surface rust and that the metal in that area was not rusted all the way through, they then will probably say that the crack came from a lot of serious off roading.
