BUYER BEWARE: 3rd Gen Plug-N-Play Tailgate Bolt-N-Lock & Tailgate Bolt-N-Open

Are there any instructions on how to install the tailgate lock and unlock?

Got the kit today. Looks like I have to install a connector inline if I ever want to remove my tailgate?

UPDATE:

I just received the Opener Brackets with the New Multi Rod Packets. Now I can get all the New Opener Orders SHIPPED!!!

 

How did you end up fixing this? I did the exact same thing smh!!

 

Why would you remove that bolt? Lift up on the locking wire for the tumbler and it gives you the slack you need

 

Or removing the lock cylinder is your safest route . Hope the broken bolt doesn’t effect anything .

 

Yeah....I was too excited and I didn’t think straight. Super dumb mistake. Going to the dealer tomorrow to get a new cylinder. The E Clip doesn't stay on now so the top bracket falls apart. Again, dumb mistake.

 

It does affect it unfortunately. Going to have to shell out money for a new cylinder. It’s all good though

 

If it makes you feel better I did the exact same thing and was about to buy a new cylinder. However as a last ditch effort I managed to get E clip back in position by using a little epoxy. It kept the top assembly together while also allowing the parts beneath to move freely. Its held up since the spring.

 

Thank you! I will try that tomorrow. What kind of epoxy did you use if I may ask? I will go this route and if it doesn’t hold up then new cylinder I go.

 

I'm pretty sure I used J-B Weld SteelStik Epoxy Putty since it works with both aluminum and steel.

Ok thank you. I called dealership for a new cylinder and it’s $200!! Just for the cylinder and 2 keys

 

Expensive mistake

 

Oh yeah. When I got a price quote for that part I was a bit shocked, but it motivated me to find another solution. Hopefully it works for you as well!
