My dad had a 1972 Cadillac El Dorado. We were taking pictures of it when we were trying to decide what to do with it, and one of them ended up as the wallpaper on his work laptop. He was running a presentation somewhere over in Europe and one of the guys at the table was lost for words when he saw the badge on the grill that read "8.2l"

So much engine. A hood I could sleep on. Still only 2 doors!

Very true. I should record this Jeep getting on to the interstate tomorrow and post the video. Watching the speedometer climb 1mph at a time is like watching paint dry

On my life ......... Your brother is on point. It’s sketchy af jumping on the interstate trying to get the POS up to speed before getting smashed by faster traffic.

But what about the Civic Si I bought new in 2000? 1.6 with no turbo and 160hp from the factory. MUCH BETTER built motor back in 2000. Beat that car to death doing autocross I sold it in 2002 with 76k miles on it. Zero problems.

I’ve always wanted to drive one of those. I see one often where I live. Pretty sure I’ll be trading for a C8 after the first year bugs get out in the open though. Beautiful car you have.

I’m not sure it’s fair to class all turbo engines together, some are great and some not so much. Part of the problem may be the FCA factor, I own a 2019 Ram Promaster for work purposes and while I love it, dang if that thing ain’t junky. The Cherokee I drove felt similarly cheap.

At the end of the day, I just enjoy getting in my Tacoma with a good ol’ V6.

BEWARE! 2021 model C8 will go up drastically. GM said they are losing money on every one below $80K. I planned on getting the second year too. Not sure now. I guess I'll have to wait and see the prices.

    Former Jeep JKU owner here.
2012 we rented a JK on vacation in Maui. It did great. It could handle all of the mountain roads(yes there are mountains in Hawai'i). At the end of 2014 I bought a Jeep JKU Sahara and put on a lift, 35's, etc. Two years later we were on vacation again in Maui and we decided to rent another Jeep but not enough room for 4 people with plenty of luggage. Decided to rent the Cherokee w/ the 4 cylinder. I made it a mile down the road and thought something was wrong w/ the lack of power. Went back and swapped it out for another Cherokee. Same thing, no power. The JKU I bought would go anywhere I wanted but it didn't have a good haul ass feel and towing capacity was a miniscule 3500 lbs. It worked great for a while. After 4 years I started having a few problems. The dealership took care of it at first. Then it left me on the side of the road. I only had 29,000 miles on it and still in warranty. The dealership said it wasn't covered, so I paid out of pocket for the repair. When I picked it up they smashed the valve cover over and it started leaking. They said it was like that when I brought it in. No way. Fought with them for a bit then decide to get rid of it for the Tacoma. I will NEVER buy another Jeep product as long as FMC has anything to do with it.

I’d really like to wait for a GS to come out , but my gf is chomping at the bit. Lolol If the bugs are bad I might just go grab a ZL1 1LE. Manual 2019’s on the lot still at stupid low prices.

Still have the 12 JGC. It is a 4x4. Pretty much my wife's car. Only 31,000 on it. Only issues to date have been a A/C heater core that had to be replaced and a water pump went out. We purchased the lifetime factory bumper to bumper warranty. Both repairs needed happened after the 3year/36. Only cost was $100 deductible. We have gotten our moneys worth out of the extended warranty.

Have to say that Moore Jeep has been great. The techs have got the repairs done in a timely manner with good quality work, gave us a loaner at no cost, and didn't mess up the vehicle. My point, not all dealer service departments and techs are bad.

Dealerships are so hit and miss. I hear horror stories all of the time ............ With all manufacturing company dealers. I love the dealer I use and they own dealers of Toyota and Chevrolet that we both use. Never a issue and we’ve bought 7 vehicles from them. 1 Z71 truck , 5 Corvettes and my new Taco.

If you're unwilling to drive the damned thing, then why do you own it?

I drive it all the time. Add up how much tires, mileage and wear and tear add up on your truck over say, 5000 miles. Knock out those 5000 miles on a 6 day turn and burn trip of just pounding interstate having zero fun driving. Rental truck cost me like $350 bucks for 9 days with unlimited mileage. I drive my Tacoma to enjoy off roading and taking my sons places with me when I have them, it’s not a mall crawler or bought to run coast to coast in just to rack up boring miles. I have 5 vehicle choices at home , but I still rent cars for long pointless highway miles. I also keep road salt off of my vehicles as much as possible because it destroys everything it gets on. I drive in snow all the time , but rarely do I get snow where I live. Renting is cheap with no worries. Let the rental companies deal with tires, oil changes and rock chips in the windshield, along with road salt etc etc. It comes out pretty cheap renting at the rates I get. Fuel up , start engine and go. I could keep going , but you get the idea.
