Custom LED Map and Dome lights

Battery was not disconnected ... and truck was running.
I’m thinking this is where my problem is and why my fuse blew. . Totally spaced , thinking I did NOT need to disconnect anything, because it was a small interior light.

guessing I was wrong.

update:

100% blown fuse. Went back to the truck to grab something. Noticed my MESO puddle pods are no longer lighting up.


Do I need to check any other fuses ? Or just the one listed @MESO

 

@MESO Can you make a version that has both red and white? Thinking it would be pretty cool to set it up so the dome light on button/open doors turns on white, but if you push the map light in it turns on red.

It would require some modding of the dome light circuit but I think its very doable.

He's already got dual color version in the works.
Doesn't have the white doors and red push (I don't think), but that is a really neat idea.

 

Meso, I have one of the boards (one row) going bad on my 3rd Gen maps (White) can I get a replacement?

 

I'm sure @MESO will get to you but I would PM him your issue with the order #. Thats what he had me do when I had an issue with mine.

 

I just received my white maps and dome lights! After reading the last few pages, I’m hesitant to install them. I don’t want to blow fuses or burn out controllers! What’s the fool prof way to install these correctly the first time?

 

Disconnect battery.

 

you will be fine. i didn’t disconnect the battery and i blew no fuses.
installed last year initially i had the white maps than i sold em for the white/red
have the dome light too.
no issues

 

I just struggled for over an hour trying to install my dome light from @MESO
Finally gave up. Idk if that spring loaded piece fits into the 2019? No matter what I tried it wouldn’t fit right. Any tips/tricks to put this thing in? I can’t figure it out for the life of me, even watching YouTube videos. I’d hate to return it. The map lights work and went in perfectly. Help much appreciated!

 

Post a pic of what you're dealing with. I had no issues with mine so I can't imagine where you're getting stuck.

 

I just got my Maps and Dome in. I did disconnect the battery and removed the over head console all the way. The only issue I had was the wires came out of one of the maps at the solder points. I hade to resolder the wires they are super short with no room for play.

 

Sit in the driver seat, fold the seat back so you stare up. Put the right side into the small hole on the metal peice while pushing the spring piece tightly. Don’t let any pressure off the spring and push upwards. There is no click, it sort of just stays in place. I did it during the night with just a flashlight for mine, took me 4 attempts to get it to stay.

TBH, had more trouble with the Maplights cause I kept screwing up on the polarity. And yes, I remove the neg. battery when I installed.

 

That’s really the only position I didn’t try, I’ll give it a go again after work today @Sn4rlax . I’ll post a pic if I’m still having trouble @mlr69 Just kept bending and popping out like it would never ever fit. Can’t seem to keep the spring compressed in one hand while slipping it into place. Some foul language may have occurred lol, all these YouTube videos make it seem like the easiest thing to put in place.

 

I think my photos are uploading out of order and maybe even duplicates so I apologize in advance. Long story short, dome light isn’t working. Maybe just a bad batch, that’s what I’m hoping because I want the lights to work. Took a lot of fighting to get the spring loaded piece in place, but from the pictures you can see I finally got it in place (I think) no matter what direction I put it, wouldn’t turn on. I popped my factory bulb back in (super easy, less than 1 second) and it works fine, so that’s what has me assuming that maybe it’s a bad batch of dome light?

Stock light works fine (with switch and door open) bulb in and out easily.

MESO dome light won’t turn on in any fashion when plugged in, guess I need to return and buy a new one. Fingers crossed

I’ve got the puddle pods too I’m gonna tackle install when I get a couple hours off baby duty! I want the dome lights to work to match the Map Lights I bought from you.

 

No worries. The spring style festoon has worked thus far, but I listen to feedback and want to refine all my products. This is the new style I have came up with

 

@MESO that seems like it would be much easier to install! That should work flawlessly unless it’s the actual dome light itself, hope not, fingers crossed any info ya need from me other than that order number I gave you? Do I get a new tracking number, and of course like anyone would ask, when do you think you’ll get it out in the mail? My Xmas present to myself
