I get what you are saying though, and it does make a lot of sense for versatility if you feel you need it. Would you replace the existing cross member or just add to the rack between? I was just pointing out for the people that want to go full bore. The design is sometimes the hardest part if you. Fabrication too if you're at the mercy of hand tools, but not impossible. Cardboard templates, do overs, etc, it can get time consuming and expensive.

However, what I intend to mount up there is going to be permanent. If I have to add holes to do it (and I'm sure I will) I will try to do that before it is up there or I will use something to protect the roof from damage once the rack is installed, and touch up paint to make it look nice.

All I intend to mount though are lights, water port, awning, and a gun case. Maybe the shovel and ax. But those will most likely go on the bed bars with the jack.

For now, I'll just replace the cross bars with the extrusions. Anything else I add to the roof rack will probably be specific to a purpose.

Cool. Can't wait to see the finished product. I have yet to purchase one. I did start buying the things to mount to it. I am hoping for some sort of BF deal.

    :fingerscrossed:

@JeffBoyardee That's good to know. I might do something with the cutouts as well. I really don't know why they designed the faring that way.... I did install the bulb trim at the bottom of the faring and it helped a little bit. I'm starting to get used to the wind noise now tho. Even with the wind noise, I am happy with the rack. Would I like to have a Prinsu cab rack? of course... who wouldn't?? But for the money, I do not regret this purchase.

i wired up two of the pod lights that come with the rack onto two ditch light brackets. I’d previously opened them all up and weather sealed them before so no condensation, but this is with regular beams they’re way brighter. Pleasantly surprised
    Button looks sweet too

My 19' Pro came with the Desert Air Intake, and it is attached to the truck at the forward roof mount location. It's an L bracket not unlike the brackets for the roof rack I suppose.

I was wondering if one of you can take a picture of the bracket that comes with the roof rack at this location after it's mounted for me.

    Thanks peeps!

Is there any risk of leak with this rack? I'm asking because I live in FL and raining here is a normal thing!

I got this rack in today. First off the rack looks great. And it appears to be beefy as hell. However I didn’t get the lights that it was supposed to come with. The Hooke logo is upside down, One of my side pieces has a deep scratch all the way down it (sealed in plastic and the box was perfect), and I’m missing the very back piece. Luckily Amazon is already making it right and contacted Ubox to either send me the parts, a new rack, or refund me all together.

but this will be last purchase from “Hooke road”.

I haven't had any leaks yet, probably shouldn't have said that. I did put some black permatex on the bolts and in the holes where it attaches to the truck so hopefully it is sealed well

Damn that's horrible. Mine had the upside down logo but that was the only "issue" .

I am not convinced at all with the probability of water filtration through the holes. Also I don't like the idea of removing the rubber trim from the roof. That's what make me wonder if I should go for it or not.

I still have my rubber trim on I just notched it to fit around the mounting brackets. I also didn't remove the factory seal over where the holes are I simply cut out where the holes themselves are then shot some sealant into the holes and on the bolts themselves

black trim is still there just take your time and notch out for the mounting brackets. After they are secured just reinstall the trim.
