Can anyone tell me if Toyota replaced any frames on the 1st gen Tacomas? Are they still doing it? And are there any time or mileage limits on the frame replacements? I have a 2002 with 211,000 miles and the frame is rusted completely through both walls in front of the rear spring front shackles.

Welcome to TW...2002, you’re out of luck. Time limit was 15 years on some and 12 years on others.

Thanks for the welcomes. I thought I was probably out of luck. I love that truck. It is a shame I have to junk it. 211K is nothing for mileage and I really wanted to keep it. I am going to have some people look at it to see if it can be repaired.

If it’s too far gone, part it out, scrap the rest and and buy another one.

It looks like the safe-t-caps are going to work. My repair guy looked at it and said he would be able to fix it using them.
