I’ve had 3 mounted with plaques. I’ve since taken them all off. I think they look cleaner without them. I did it because my dad has his on plaques. I figured out I don’t have to be like him.

Just a precautionary note to all...keep an eye on elderly hunters and anyone who uses heat in their stand.
TEXAS TOWNSHIP, WAYNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A hunter from Florida was killed Saturday afternoon in Wayne County after an explosion in the stand he was using.

Gregory Scheer, 81, of Chiefland, Florida was hunting in a stand on the ground in a wooded area off Bridge Street in Texas Township. According to state police, his portable propane-powered heater possibly malfunctioned or was improperly connected, which caused the attached propane bottle to explode.

Two additional propane bottles that were nearby exploded as well after the initial explosion and fire. Scheer was found by his friend, who owned the property the victim was hunting on at the time of the explosion.

The official cause of death is pending an investigation.

Thanks for the feedback, I just didn’t know if I should pay the extra, if later on I want to mount it on a plaque I can do that.

Still waiting on the big boy to show up. He’s still alive as of 12/1. First pic I’ve had of him in a couple weeks. In the process of praying he quits being nocturnal, I let a decent 8 walk yesterday that I normally would have taken in a heart beat. If I hadn’t already filled 1 of my 2 buck tags, he’d be on the ground. Still kinda wishing I’d have pulled the trigger. I’d like him to make it to next year, but I HIGHLY doubt it around here...

Looking at the pic of that bigger buck, his glands aren’t even stained. I’ve got this week off and was hoping he’d come out in the day, but it doesn’t even look like he’s rutting yet...

LOL 35 Whalen is a hell of a cartridge for deer! Better to go big that not big enough though, right?

My father has a 6# rifle that's chambered in 35 Whalen. It's basically just a range toy to make other people hurt and laugh at their expense, great fun.

Yep definitely overkill but I'm my opinion the bigger slower round doesn't leave as much bloodshot meat, and isn't so bad on my shoulder.

The real reason I hunt with it is primitive weapons in MS include single shot breech loading firearms with a .35 caliber or larger bullet, so it was my choice of those options, as it was the flattest shooting out of the bunch from what I found.

I've been doing European mounts on various reclaimed barn wood. I think it gives a unique individual appearance.

Looks great and great idea! I may try something like that on some of mine.

I like the board mounts that are angled. Think they look better than being flat.

Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
I could even remember if I had a plaque or not on my first shoulder mount... Found a pic in my phone though. I think I like no plaque for shoulders, but you gotta have one for euro or antler mounts imo

Here’s the “plaque” on my euro using old fence boards to look like barnwood

I did all the walls of my shop in old fence wood. It was free and it looks like barn wood. That euro looks great

Thanks! Yep I like the free aspect. Just takes some sorting to get the straightest boards.
