Funny to see the truck in the garage with nothing but the rear lift done. Soooo raked out! Trying to fit 285/75r17 ridge grapplers on SCS SR8s. CMC tomorrow I think.

Yeah I’ll snap a pic for ya. They’re not strapped in at the moment because I’ve had wheels and tires in and out of the bed but you can get an idea. It’s the most ideal set up I could find. FWIW there is 11.5 inches clearance from the top of the kennel to the interior roof of the topper. I was hoping to fit a decked system but I’m lacking by about .5 inches. Gonna have to custom build something.

Here is the kennel set up. I can take more pics when I get the truck back outside. It’s a little cramped in the garage at the moment.
I included a side view and a picture of the tie down points. They bolt into the kennels. I think it’s like an extra 30 bucks to get the RTK bolt together kit, or whatever they call it.

No sir, had a ton of equity in the raptor from a couple of deployments so clearly the best thing to do is build this taco!

Here’s the reason the dogs are in the bed these days. 2,000 miles in and got a chewed up door panel. Classic.

Really appreciate the picture. Are those tie downs on the covers Sturdy enough for an impact?

Glad to send pics man, there is almost no info out there that I could find.

The tie downs/straps go to a metal bracket that is bolted directly to the kennel with a 3/8 bolt. I cut small slits in the cover so I could get the bracket through. Also, both kennels are bolted together in the middle. I’ll try to get a better pic.

Awesome, I have the same crate as you. Just was deciding on buying a size smaller so I could fit them in the backseat instead of the bed. However I’ve also been considering the mud river cover with my current size. Your pictures have been very helpful.

RTK and Gunner both claim they’re products are rated for crashes and there is a lot of good reviews on both. I figure it’s safer for the dogs and us if they’re strapped down tight in those roto-molded kennels. Hopefully
I never have to test it out though. Here is the bracket pic:

Awesome! Even without a cap the dogs seemed to be plenty warm in like 30 degree weather, cruising on the highway. Crazy how much heat they put out and retain when the cover is zipped up!

Driving a modern Ford 5.0L will make your Tacoma feel positively zippy. They have strangled the life out of that engine for efficiency and with pollution controls. It will be a long, slow, painful death.

Not even close. The 5.0 blows the 4.0 and 3.5 out of the water. The 3.5EB is a blast to drive compared to all of them though. I drove all of them in the same day, same roads to get a good comparison.

I drive the 5.0L, the 3.5EB and the 2.7EB weekly at work. All 2018/2019/2020 models. Getting into the 5.0L is like your life suddenly went into slo-mo. No thanks.
