FF drizzle, thick and nasty... applied yesterday to front passenger side
these parts have never seen anything much other than a wand hosing/rinsing down so they are slightly weathered

Looking good. Being that FF is Lanolin based and not petroleum based I wouldn't hesitate to cover everything underneath including the wheel wells. Or whichever Lanolin based one you choose to go with, just hose that sucker all down with it. It can't hurt any of the components. Only help. And you'll be able to see by this time next year if surface crap got any worse by comparing to your pics.

i can tell you that when i sprayed the FF on parts here it sizzled like bacon lol
that is probably a good thing? dissolving some surface corrosion
will definitely be needing some new parts under there one of these years
sway bar bushings look all cracked too when i got a good close up view

The sizzling thing I dunno, I don't think it's gonna be a bad thing. But the thick metal heavy components that get surface rust like a spindle won't need replacing. No surface rust is gonna compromise the strength of that spindle. The sway bar bushings looking dried and weathered you say? Many times the links themselves are just fine. Surface rust on those won't matter either, unless it's on the threads making it hard to loosen the nuts. But you can just replace the weather bushings themselves too. I think you can also just replace the whole link that the bushings sit on also.

overspray from that suspension drizzle yesterday i can produce a pic of FF in action today with de-icing spray right next to it
i was driving on mostly dry roads today, less than an inch of snow out but they coated streets with it

does the FF not displace water very well, it would matter if the surface is dry or not for it to stick?
this other product I am currently testing alongside FF is a forumulated non-toxic chemical that reverses polarity to adhere to the metal and automatically displaces any water and moisture, which is good for any crevices, lapped welds, joints, etc. can be applied to wet surfaces and even in the rain, but i have not tried to apply either product to a wet surface, just dry and dusty surfaces

I have read a few accounts that FF needs to be applied twice a year?
if so that would make FF MUCH more expensive, both in cost of item and time spent, than this other product I am testing that is recommended to be re-applied every 18 months, but I will keep my eye on it to track its durability in a mildly harsh winter climate, its hit or miss some years here with ice, sloppy snow and blizzards with continual freeze and thaw cycles

and i can also say that it was quite a bit more enjoyable experience (almost 'thrilling') to apply this other chemical gel and watch it spread and creep around all metal surfaces at 100psi air pressure with no drip drip and no smell, it slithered around like a clear blue snake, forcing it to move where i wanted it too
it does require an air compressor though, which could probably be a drawback?

and the gel maybe not able to spray and mist very well in the cold, which the FF in rattle cans still works if needed a spot reapplication?

I let it dry for a couple days so the FF sticks better. Is it based on science? Nah, but I just prefer to make sure it's applied under the best conditions :)

I don't wash the undercarriage in the winter after fluid film application. It's gets this waxy haze to it. Collects dirt but it's protected. In the Spring-time I blast the frame with a pressure washer. Re-apply in Fall. Been doing it for years in the South Dakota Winters we have. Mag water is a menace to the Tacoma Society.

FWIW I still have a layer of dirt/mud on my entire undercarriage from my last wheeling trip.. that's as good as fluid film, right?

if this FF collects that much dirt & sand over time that is not a good deal, i would prefer a see-through film so you can actually see what's going on under there! and still retain a badass shiny glazed type of look to locally represent my Tacoma on the winter streets

although my truck is not lifted at all so its not real noticeable unless you are in a little car behind me lol

I cleaned and coated my undercarriage and frame with FF back in May, and then did a reapplication in October. I won't do anything else until next April, but I'm confident that my Taco's frame is well protected.

confidence is key! pics would be helpful! that reapplication was basically a double cost? materials + time
the Tacoma paint coating on that frame is extremely subpar as far as durability in the winter i am finding out
i totally lack any confidence in it
