Raptors are bought by Yuppies (haven't heard that in decades) instead of a Volvo wagon like back in the '90's.

Dude didn't want to be associated with those lame @ss posers....

So..... he bought a rough and tumble Taco... Gonna lift that b!tch and (no doubt) put armor on it.....Will look totally butch and will project a more authentic image compared to the (mostly) poser crowd of Yuppies that buy Raptors....

    Or something like that ;-)

hahaha yeah thats an accurate summary lol

I know what he is talking about though, its different to truly build your own than to buy "pre-build".. I got my hands on a 1st gen 4x4 reg cab so I can build upon, but yet I just "pre-built" a 2020 Ram 3500 diesel... might be totally different trucks but the concept is there lol

For me it's really about where I live and use the truck. If I lived out in the sticks and/or was towing, I'd prefer the raptor. The taco is just so much smaller and easier to navigate in the city, especially around drivers who aren't paying attention and/or don't care about their vehicle.

I recently left working at a Ford dealership and saw a lot of young professionals buying Raptors.
What got me was the $75000 price tag and these same guys were dumping another $5000 to $10000 into them with upgrades at the dealership. For some people money is no object.
I drove several Raptors and wasn't really impressed and after seeing them come in out of warranty and the owners being stuck with repair bills in the $3000 - $4000 range because the turbos went bad from lack of maintenance on the V6 raptors. Ford has the Ecoboost engines which are junk and a cash cow for the dealerships when people don't keep the maintenance up on them. I heard enough people complaining.
You were wise to ditch it and go with a Tacoma. There is a lot of support on this website and maybe some snooty people but most are just regular guys who enjoy their trucks.

Don’t forget the failing cam phaser’s on the 3.5 EB engines. I read it’s a $4k repair if out of warranty.

yuppies with large wallets and that’s not a crowd I want to be a part of.

Buys a $40k truck and immediately drops $10k on mods.

I’m puzzled as well, as I believe the Raptor has one of the most advanced and sophisticated 4X4 systems out there, if you’re into that sort of thing.
When I looked at the system I was impressed. But at the same time, I was also intimidated at the complexity, and who or what it would take to repair any issues that are sure to pop up, along with the dreaded down time.

One problem is it doesn't fit down 90% of 4x4 trails.

I agree, 65k for a mud truck is too much. I'd go with the F-150 4X4 5.0 NA and call it a day

You wont regret switching OP. At least the taco will be worth more than 15 cents after it has years and miles on it. Not something you can say for the yuppie poser mobile craptor. Lucky you got rid of it before you had to pay someone to tow it away.
