    Vagabond or Summit.

Setting up and taking down the tent every night and every morning is a huge pita.

We are getting the tougher trails out of the way with the Taco, and aiming for a 4x4 sprinter class of the time when we fully retire. 14yrs...

I dream of an earth-roamer.. but I’d need to tow a mihindra behind it to justify its size.

Something like that would be nice and not out of the question but that would be all that we have, i like a lil emergency cash.
I hear ya, retired 5yrs ago and have been thinking about selling everything and traveling ever since. Im finally gonna do it one way or another, lil scary but we are excited to try it. I like the fact that we can go alot more places in the taco and easy to park in cities as well. Time will tell shit if she had it her way we would be living in a sailboat.

The image on the bottom is of a Sherptek custom flatbed on a ram chassis cab. Wife and I looked at the GXV Adventure Truck earlier this year in Springfield, but for a $100K less we could do something with a flatbed and truckbed camper. And guess what... the Ram can easily tow my flatbed... WITH the taco :) So yeah, picture the lower truck, with Northern Lite camper, and on 42s!

It'll be a few years, but my wife is 100% on board!! Figure we can full time in the Northern Lite for a few years. When we decide to settle more, drive less, can upgrade to one of them mondo triple slides and stick to campgrounds.

I’ve thought about a similar thing.

I like this setup. It’s got more “stuff” but still fairly capable.

    this is cool too
    https://expeditionportal.com/hymers-vision-venture-sprinter/

    Or the revel.

but I’m in any of those way more than the $60k I’ve got in my current setup :(

For our next rig, we want solid walls and a bathroom. We were excited about the Sprinters until we actually climbed in a few. Little too cramped for us. If we upgrade, we want to UPGRADE, lol. That way we have room to really relax inside if there is crappy weather and such. And I promised my wife we could get an adventure pupper when we get a new rig, so gotta have room for a dog too.

I’ve never actually been in one. I’m also of a fan of doing what everyone else is doing so I dunno that I’d do a sprinter anyway. Plus I’ve heard some horror stories on their longevity.

The next thing is quite a ways off for me considering I just got this one lol

It's years off for us, too. But when you are talking about that kind of investment in both money and in time it's good to have a solid plan. We love the Habitat for what it is, but we're also learning what we want/need from our next rig. And what we actually like to do with the vehicle. One, we aren't into the driving camping driving camping driving camping. We prefer parking for at least a few days at a time, preferably somewhere with a view. Two, we don't care about hard core offroading. FS roads, EASY trails, and some sand dunes are all we are interested in.

After looking into truck campers and how most people end up overweight before filling their tanks I figured a 5500 was the way to go. Heck, my Taco is 5 or 600 overweight before even hooking up my trailer :(

Soon we will be in electric trucks and we wont have to worry about adding a 2nd battery for the fridge.
