How is your back door attached ? Mines is magnetic and it left scratches on the tailgate

I’m using a magnetic strip on mine as well. Just been more careful and making sure the paint is waxed.

I use a magnet as well to keep my back softopper flap against the tailgate, and I added one of these "do it yourself paint protection films" to the top of the tailgate to keep it from getting scratched up:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003EP52BU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It says it is cut for door sills, but actually it is almost the perfect length for our tailgates (just had to cut a small amount of the end) and the width is perfect to fit the top contour of the tailgate where the softopper flap will land. Mine was easy to install with a little soap and water helping the placement and the magnet still works perfect over the top of it.

I did this on my 2016 Taco with the Softopper....had it on for 2 plus years and showed no sign of wear in that time. I have had it on my 2019 Taco as well for a year now and again no wear. Good luck!

Got rid of the softtopper and went with a hard shell. She's on vacation in this picture.
