Oem axles are almost as hyped up as coil overs.
    Are they awesome? Yes
Do you absolutely have to have them? No

with armor, 31s, rear locker, and some driving under your belt you can make it through 80% of trails out there, even a lot of ones rated as difficult.

There is a lot of circlejerking about performance parts but plenty of budget set ups perform about the same on the trail anyways. rabble rabble rabble

I agree and I think when talking about critical stuff that might make you crash if it fails then the argument for OEM is that much more valid. But we're talking CV axles here, pretty much everyone knows and doesn't argue that the cheaper you go the less reliable it will generally be. So just don't buy $60 axles lol. Napa has had a good reputation on here and I think FEQ are decent, both far less $ than oem with warranties.

Plus even OEM axles aren't bulletproof and they cost $800 a pair and if you break one Toyota will likely take one look at it and be like 'warranty voided, it was used offroad'

I'm hoping the $200 OEM remans will be the good middle ground

I'd say the same with 4wd too. If ur a pee runner or 5 lug then everyone's wondering why ur even building ur rig. 4wd is nice, but it's not a necessity unless ur crawling or blasting through fresh powdered snow. Inb4 I get shitstormed for saying u can take a 2wd off road :crapstorm:

P.s Will be getting e-locker with my regear, so won't be 1wd soon either lol

As long as you're aware of what you're doing or using.
And that's a poor conclusion to make off of seriously limited data..... Don't any of all these college kids take any science or statistics classes anymore??? :D:luvya:

And that's where I'm at; tires just shy of 32's, sliders and bumper (rear bumper could've come sooner...that dent I have is huge), and my rear locker works perfect.

I've followed people on 4x4 trails and learned when/where I needed to overcome something with throttle.

Seriously looking forward to Moab as I'll learn a lot more about my trucks capabilities, and where to set my tires on the more technical obstacles.

But I've really surprised myself (and others) with some of the shit I've done with my truck already.

Me too. I've taken plenty of hits on that...and I'm sure more will pop up in time :D

My time and energy is worth way more than a few bucks saved that cost more time, money, and energy down the road...but I get that sometimes it's not a choice if funds are limited
